Because of our busy lifestyle, we sometimes cannot provide our children their proper nutritious meal. So, we resort to instant preparation of food for the children. Today everything is always instant even in food. There are instant noodles, instant coffee, instant tea, instant oatmeal, etc. Is it right that children always eat instant food? Even if the instant food that we buy in convenience store has nutritional facts on the label, can we depend on it?

Eating Instant Food Is Not Good For You At All. Not Only Does It Have Lots Of Perservatives. It Also Is Not Healthy For Them. You Should Give Children Something Fresh To Eat.

We can prepare meals in advance in the early morning or at weekends and just reheat them later. Eating chemically processed foods is often a risk for kids as well as to us adults like those preservatives and artificial additives added to corned beef, ham, and other meats. They contain sodium nitrite which is found to cause cancer when eaten in large quantities. We occasionally eat processed foods and instant foods.

Instant food has its own advantages. Instant food i.e. pre cooked food with authentic ingredients can be served in a matter of few minutes while there original cooking takes too much time. Instant foods like maggie, noodles, etc. are much famous in public especially children. All has to be done is to dip the pack in ht boiling water and after few minutes the meal is ready. Considered as a mandatory item in a bachelor's kitchen, instant food or ready to eat food also has a lot of worries. The food has a lot of preservatives add to it. Having this kind of food ocassionally for children or adult is ok but having such kind of food on a regular basis might be harmful. Another consent is the content inside the packet. There is always a clear instruction in all the packets that not to buy if the packet is open. While instant food are quite convenient, the disadvantages is that they are usually nutrient dense than whole foods. The more a food is processed to make it instant, the more vitamins and minerals are lost. Fresh or whole foods that have not been procesed are a much healthier choice. In short, eating instant food ocassionally is ok but avoid eating it on regular basis. Even they are costlier also.

I also agree. Instant foods are easier to serve and best for bachelors but has its own disadvantages. So should be used in less amount. The intake should be ocassionally

Occasional eating of instant foods are not really harmful to health but regular eating becomes dangerous due to preservatives and other additives. Also, some instant noodles bought at the convenient store are already expired or near its expiration date, we should be truly wise in buying instant foods. Truly, fresh foods bought in the market are healthier choice than instant foods.

Not really a requirements, as much as possible the intake of instant food need to be minimize. It is not adequate sources of balanced nutrients need by children bodies to make them bright and active. Some instant food contains artificial additives, flavoring and coloring which is bad for health. i highly encourages mother to assure children receives great benefits of food nutrients sources of food should be fresh meat, fresh vegetables, and seasonal fruits are still the good choice. It is safe more to serve as a good meals to children protecting them from a lot of diseases..

hi levite, i was so afraid of the news yesterday by informing the public that there are lot of instant foods on the stores now that are not good for our health anymore, even before they are not healthy but still we buy them because we feel more easy when comfortable than cooking that can took a lot of time.. let's just be more practical, prevention is better than cure.. janebeth.

Yes, if we always resort to instant food especially for the children, even if we say we are practical, it is really not practical for our children's health to suffer. I see some people's lives suffer and their savings just go to the hospitalization of their children.

We do and don't eat alot of convience foods. The kids enjoy their hotdogs & ramen noodles. Quick & easy to make for lunch. I usually try to make dinner from scratch of some sort and the oldest is getting big enough to start helping with the little things. Sometimes I think the "instant" and all the preservatives in the food is why more people are trying to go organic and buy less processed foods. Sadly sometimes it's more costly to buy something in it's natural state than it is in an overprocessed state. All these foods are marketed to us & especially tward our kids. They don't need the cereal that has as much sugar as a candybar to eat it, once in a while treat fine, but every day? NO thanks.

Truly organic foods are really fast becoming popular today because it is much safer than chemically-processed foods. Sometimes processed foods are really cheaper than natural foods but why suffer to buy processed foods if it will not be good for the children's health including us, adults. Anyway, hospitalization is not cheap. Eating instant foods is good occasionally but not regularly. Happy mylotting. Cheers.

Hi levite, we don't have ready meals out here really or instant foods really either so the children still eat properly prepared food. Something instant to my child would be a bowl of cornflakes, an ometette or some fruit. I get round the constant cooking by mass cooking and freezing so instant here would be a home cooked meal left to defrost. I think it is really important to give a child a healthy start with real nutritous food.

Home-cooked meal is still the better choice for our family because we know its source and it's always nutritious unlike processed foods.

My mother never allows us to eat instant food, she makes it totally at home and says that instant food is the most dangerous food because it has no ingredients that are fresh in them and even taste horrible, but since i have gone out to hostel i eat instant food and got food poison twice and i think it is really very dangerous.

instant food are fast and easy to prepare. they solve the problems of cooking and also children love to eat this kind of stuff. but i think instant food is not very goo for anyone. these stuffs have preservatives and they contain elements that are harmful for the pefect development and growth of the body. for a change of taste one can serve these stuffs to children but if it becomes a routine then it might prove harfull.

hi levite.we have to say the instant food such as instant noodles, instant soups, instant drinks, etc have become an important part of our lives, they make our lives easier and faster.but instant food may be bad for heathy.instant noodles, for example, contain high carbohydrates but low fiber, vitamins and minerals which may rusults in the increasing risks of various disease. so,my advice is children even us adults should not eat too much instant food.

instant foods are packed with sodium and other preservatives that are harmful in the body in the long run. it is one of the cause of increasing obesity in children nowadays. though it is can save time in food preparation and readily available, it is not a healthy food.. children needs healthy foods for optimal growth. so if parents have really no time for preparation, they can have the instant foods occasionally.

I can imagine why many mothers would resort to instant foods, and I don't think its wrong to do that on occasion - being a Mom can be some serious hard work and everyone has THOSE days! But I have to say, does anyone else find that advert on TV, where they make a big deal about the family having a meal all together that Mom provided, and then she puts down a KFC bucket, a little disturbing?! KFC - the new homecooked meal! I was diagnosed with diabetes a few years ago and since then I have learned so much about how our bodies are affected by food. I, like everyone else, thought of it in terms of my weight, and hair and skin, maybe being heart healthy etc - but truly, we are what we eat, in terms of depression, brain function, eyesight - everything! I think that of course every so often we will rely on these quick things, thats life. But I also know that the healthiest way is to eat foods as close to their natural source as possible. If you read nutrition labels, honestly a lot of the prepackaged stuff we eat is barely even food! High fructose corn syrup is in everything! How much better to teach our children to eat and to prepare quick easy meals out of whole ingredients, and have them grow up to take care of themselves and their families the same way?

I hope that you have at least some extra protein with the instant noodles like egg or a little beef or chicken. Children do need protein as it helps their bones become stronger. You might even check about making meals in advance and just reheating them. Meatballs make wonderful additives into a meal - they can be made in advance and frozen. Then just take out what you need for each. I like to make meatloafs, roasts, or chicken that just needs to be reheated to give to the family.

We rarely serve instant noodles to the family. We always cook our meals and store leftovers in the refrigerator or freeze pre-cooked meats for serving later.

hankfully in India most of us still make food and there are so many recipies that you can cook under ten minutes. so I usually go for home cooked food and not the instant ones evewn when they were babies I cooked food like porridge and pulses and rice for my kids. mashed them properly wioth the spoon and gave them that instead pof readymade. It did require effort but I feel it was all worth it. I didn't have to spend tons on baby food and I was always sure of quality of the food. My babies didn't suffer from stomach infections or dentral problems or any other problems that nowdays you see kids suffer from. Infact I hardy made any trips to doctor till they were older except for the vaccinations and regular checkups.

Eating instant food is actually a dilemma that we face today. Our world became instant in almost everything, that is why our life is also instant. we die at a young age. so if we give instant food to our children, generally they won't live long enough to see their grandchildren. Some might even go ahead of us.

We cann't depend on instand food at all. I'm strongly against letting my kid to have instand food always . Instand food is also very popular in our country now . I've noticed that many parents would eat out in KFC with their kids very often . Instant food is actually rubbish and would do a great harm to our health. Although everyone knows but they just love to eat these fried chicken until they feel hot in their heart.

Hi Levite I usually cooked home cooked meals 4-5 times a week when my kids were little and still do now that they are much older I do use some instant things but not very much if now if I didn't cook they would eat the instant noodles from time to time but its not good to eat like that all the time. The nutritional value is not as good as if it were home cooked also the amount of salt bad fats and sugars in a lot of the instant foods today as well as fast food and processed foods are not good for you either.
