Hi I wanted to upgrade my RAM from 2GB to 4 GB. But the vendor asks for SDRAM or DDRAM? What is the difference?

SDRAM are for older motherboards with Pentium 3 and earlier P4 class processors, DDRAM are for older motherboards too but follows SDRAM motherboard. DDR2 follows DDRAM and current motherboards now uses DDR3. You cannot use one for the other and in your case you cannot upgrade using a newer memory module type. If you want to check what you have then get SIW(system info for windows) a free utility to list all your component type.

Thank you. I will now check my RAM type and see if my motherboard is compatible with new RAM. thank you.

I read people says about SDRAM and DDRAM and they are quietly true. But if you upgrade your memory my friend. Just check first you motherboard if it is supported DDRAM or the capacity that you like to be in your computer so that your not going to waste your money. Not only the memory you can check but also the Motherboard. See the spec of your motherboard to make sure it supported DDRAM or SDRAM up to 4 gig...have a nice day!

Well, let's say it simply,DD is better than SD,it has faster speed.

maybe you mean SDR SDRAM and DDR SDRAM. SDRAM means synchronous dynamic random access memory. SDR means single data rate. DDR means double data rate. Double is greater than single. which means faster data transfer. If you will buy memory, check first your mother board, because it can only accommodate certain type of memory. It is either SDR or DDR but not both. for more details check the following sites: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDRAM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR_SDRAM

DDR= Double Data Rate DDR is the better type because it is faster. All new computers come with DDR RAM and some even come with DDR 2.It is a technology that transmits data on both sides of a tact signal. This way the performance has been doubled;a 133Mhz SD RAM chip can very easy become altered to a 266MHz DDR chip.
