Its a very common thing with us to bargain and get things at right and reasonable price. There is a lady who i know is just mind blowing in these bargains, she always wins over the shopkeeper and get things which i should have bought at double cost.
she is very good in it.
I try to bargain like her but sometimes feel shy to say them the half rate of what they are asking for. but the case is different in big shops where the price is fixed and no bargain can be even attempted.
So do you bargain? bargain on what? clothes, grocery, travel, jewellery etc.

My wife is a great bargainer. She will bargain, with the street vendors as well as in high class malls. Believe me, one day she got a discount in a high class branded shop. I was very surprised, that in a place where it is price is fixed, she was able to get a 10% discount. Females are always are better bargainers than men.

I certainly bargain with all traders except when buying groceries, because the prices in the UK her are fixed. But I have had much money deducted from cars, TVs, and other electric items, but asking their lowest price. Then when they tell me, I offer something lower again. If they don't come down in price then, I walk and go somewhere else. But they don't usually let that happen. Bigger stores though, tend not to do it. - Derek

at many times i dont..becoz mostly i go to fixed rate shops, but when i like somethign at streets or if i know that the seller can give it any much down price than he/she is saying theni enjoy doing it...if some man or woman come with some things to sell at home then i sit comfortably and bargain....but at market mostly i am in hurry and so go to exact places where things are good and guaranteed though prices little higher and fixed..but that saves time and energy

I do not like to bargain and I do not like to deal with people who are trying to bargain with me. I find this practice annoying plus it seems to bring out the greed in people.
I decide if I want an item, find out how much it cost, and then determine if I am willing to pay that much for the item; if I am agreeable with the amount I pay, if not I do not purchase.
I get so tired of people trying to bargain me down for a hotel room; if I do not get rate set by owners, the difference may comes out of my pay. Bargaining is no bargain and I do not like it.

Yes i do bargain when i go to the market to buy my vegetables and fruits and also sometimes on clothes but not not the "fixed price" shops.Sometimes shop keeprs are very smart and tend to ask more based on face value, body language and we realise it only after wards.Thought im not too good a bargainer i try my best.

With places/stores that allow bargaining, I definitely do it. It's just such a waste of money not to when it's perfectly allowable to do so.
Like you though, I get shy and don't push too hard. Often, the shopkeepers use the fact that they only get little money if I go too far and my heart bleeds for them. My mother is an expert though, and she's determined enough in saving money not to be swayed. One day, maybe I can be like that, but as of now, it's a far far dream. xD

yes. i'd like to bargain when i shopping with the shopkeeper. that's a good manner to save money and those keepers always told the higher price than the real price what they can sell the goods out. and if the price is sticked with the shopkeeper then it would be ok also that says he did not sell the things at higher price at all.

Just as your said: it's human nature with us to bargain and get things at right and reasonable price, and most people would act like that, for me I did not bargain quite often just sometimes. And I believe bargain is kind of article or tecnique, some people is good at it while others not. Maybe we should bargain and learn how to bargain sometimes to give our lives more fresh.

Hi, When i shop in brand like Adidas, Reebok, Levis etc i do not think about bargaining at all but i could do it in a local market where local shopkeepers sells their products. I know bargaining is a kind of women stuff but i do not feel shy when bargaining. We are purchasing something and we have to bargain if we know that we are charging too much for a specific product.

The stores here do not bargin..The only place you can bargin would be at a thrift shop or flea market or a garage sale..As far as the stores go we just pay whatever price is on the item...

i do sometimes if the item is damaged or whatnot or if the item is on sale (sometimes i will buy more than one of the item and ask for a deal in that respect.) but i find it hard to do at a big box store because most of the time they won't help you anyways.

Hi coolcat, if I know I am in the kind of place where bargaining is accepted then I go for it full out and love to do it, and am also rather good at it. This practice was accepted in both Turkey and Tunisia and I had a wonderful time on the markets in both countries. I once got a wonderful bargain on an ornate wooden chess set with little drawers for the pieces,in fact the bargain was so good the man spat on the floor in disgust as I left his stall.

Yes,I do bargain but not always.I have to think about my savings because I don't earn yet.As a student,I get my pocket money and I have to buy things within my budget.Sometimes the shopkeepers say double price to some goods,so at that time I have to bargain. So I don't like to shop from a shopping mall, because there you cannot bargain.

I am not good with bargaining, I may end up losing anyway. That's why I won't bargain for anything. I usually shop in a fixed price shop. The price will remain the same and I don't have to bargain for anything. My mom however is a pro is bargaining. She often complaint that I am not good enough in cutting my spending. She usually buy her stuff at the market. She can get a good deals out of almost anything. I did try to do what she does. But I still lose in the end.

I will bargain only if its a small shop or a shop where I feel that bargaining is possible. I won't even think of bargaining in a big shop
