Since i was a kid, i was always told fish and yogurt together are bad. avoid them at all cost. But according to facts, its not so dangerous, odd dish perhaps but not bad for health. There are so many food superstitious, if you'll call it that, i can't remember the ones i was told. At the back of my head, i feel like these myths might have some truth to it, something that science has not discovered yet. What do you think? What are some of your food myths? and do you stick by them?

Hello Dex. Interesting topic. The thing that first comes to mind is having been told for many years to wait at least an hour after eating before going back into the water to swim. I've done so many times as an adult with never any ill effects (the theory was one would get cramps if swimming right after eating.) Another one was that if you drank coffee as a child, it would "stunt your growth." Hm, those are the only two I can think of at the moment Karen

i heard that one, swimming and eating. coffee and growth? not much. It could be a way of scaring kids from coffee, but interesting. thanks for sharing karen. I always look forward to your replies.

One of my aunt told me when I was kid that is not good to eat watermelon with sugar. I don't know why, and never try it either, so it's still a mysteri for me why I can't combine that two together.

I know, but you know sometimes you sprinkle a little sugar on a fruit. The myth said you can't do it on watermelon, to amke it extreme thaey said you could die if you do it. Strange, and I never try to proof whether it's true or not

Food is after all food and I do not this there ahould ever be a superstition associated with food because we cannot think so negatively about the food we are consuming though. And yeah fish and yogurt have always been a very good combination.;-)

When I was little I remember that you were not supposed to eat some foods at diner. In our country, the main meal is lunch and diner is an occation only when there are guests. I imagine there was some truth in many of those ideas. I always listen to what it´s called old wives tales because it´s an experience of many years and generations. I don´t always follow them, but I don´t discard them beforehand.
