I dont understand what happened. I have security on the computer. I came home and the computer doesnt let anyone go to their homepage. A pop up about personal antivirus protection comes up every time. I have had the computer since October 2007. I called HP to have them help me and they said my waranty has expired so I had to pay. WHAT! I have been unemployed for almost 5 months. I am just getting back to work and havent even bought school clothes yet. Is there anyone who knows how to go in and remove it? When I first bought my HP notebook It had a virus on it. They did something over the phone and removed the virus. PLEASE! Anyone who knows how to do this could you please help me. I have no money. My computer is all I have. Thanks for your help ahead of time. dl

Run your anti virus software. It should clean out the virus. If not, then look for spyware doctor on the internet, there is a free version that you can get. Run that. Shut down your computer. Reboot it, and run the anti virus software again.

You have saved me trouble of responding as I was going to suggest the same as you have. I know there are also some spyware that has free trial periods if the free ones don't work.

I have this computer of mine since March 27, 2007. some how when ever i put the computer on first thing in the morning, it would set to the same date and probably just kept asking me to load optimal defaults. there are two options their, either you kept changing your anti-virus and scan them to filter them out or simply reformat it.

hi.. you can read following news which is useful for you.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/defender/default.mspx
but I personally suggest to install
AVG antivirus (download from http://free.avg.com )
Spybot search and destroy ( download http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html )
Windows Defender ( http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en&mg_id=10134 )
use windows defender only if you are having genuine windows system.
Install these three softwares and update them and run the scan for each.. I am sure you will get rid from this problem.
Good Luck. Comment if you find any problem in this solution.

I have used AVG since I have my first computer without any problem, make sure your security is updated and includes a firewall, if you don't have a firewall you are risking your system and you can get infected even with an anti-virus installed. Try to download ZoneAlarm for free. Right now I am using AVG Internet Security and includes all, Anti-Spyware, Anti-Spam, Anti-Virus, Anti-Rootkit and Firewall.

I think you may be able to reformat the disk to get rid of the virus if you have one. You will lose everything you have saved to the computer though if you do not back it up on a disc first. I hope someone here can walk you through the steps of reformatting to get rid of the virus. I would tell you if I knew how.

dloveli install AVG8 at once and let it debug your computer and it will believe me, probably will stick the virues in its vault and you can either just leave it there or tell it to delete any virus imprisoned there.AVG8 is free, does not cost one cent yet it does a really really great job. I love it ,its better than norton or mcaffee either one.

If you are sure that your computer has a virus, then you can scan it with the latest antivirus software and remove the virus if there's a virus catched by the antivirus software. You can try to using AVG or Kaspersky antivirus. Based on my own experiences, these antivirus are good and have great performance for virus scanning. You can download the free version of AVG antivirus or using the trial version on Kaspersky antivirus for this pusposes. But if you want to keep using the antivirus software on your computer, you can buy one of them. I personally prefer to use Kaspersky antivirus because i think this is the best antivirus software in this world, just like what many people said about this product. But make sure you have make a back up of all of your important files. This is just a normal prevention method for virus scanning. Good luck and have a nice day. Happy mylotting.
