Australia's ashes loss to England signals at the fall of a cricket giant. Is this true?

They had also lost ashes in 2005 but situation was not same then, mean to say a single series can't decide the rising or downfall of a team.. Aussie team start falling the day they lost two of the greatest bowlers ever i.e Mc Grath and Warne, and they are still struggling to get there replacement. they were both backbone of that side and Australian team never looked the same after there retirement.

You said it. The Australians are reeling after the retirement of those legends and brett Lee too is not at the best of his form he used to be which is a further blow for the Australian team. Moreover, their Sledging tactics are no more proving to be fruitful for the Australians and their mind games are at in a disarray now which is one more a negative sign for the Aussies.

yes venkittaraman, retirement of batsman has also affected there side.. but for that can say they got replacement with Clarke, Hussey, Watson.. which is not the case with there bowling.. only bowler left with them who can be called of standards what there predecessors set is Bret Lee and he too is struggling with his form and fitness. They really need some fire power in there bowling if had to reach any way near to standards what there dream team has set.

The Aussie dominance in cricket is over the day when they lost the Perth Test match against India in Jan 2008 and after then, they are just another team and nothing more. Hence this Ashes series is not the one that decided the end of Aussie dominance but it was judged after the Perth test itself. Now Cricket is evenly poised with too many tough teams to fight for the survival and that is what is being expected from the game of cricket. Have a great weekend and happy Mylotting. Cheers:-)

I think yes. But it is not now. It was long before. It was when India beat them in the CB Finals. It was then only that the downward slope for the Aussies started. Before that Australia played a false game, but paid for that by losing to India. It is good that no team is dominating the game. It is good for the game of cricket. And I felt good for England to have won the Ashes. It was good for Freddie. Though he did not have any noticiable performance himself.

There is not an iota of doubt that the dominance of the Australian team is over now. They may be a force to reckon with, but now the mental pressure that they used to create in the mind of opposition even before the start of the game is no more. Now, every team thinks that they have a strong chance to beat the OZ. Definitely they are no more invincible..

No i dont think so. If u remember australian team had more crisis than current before the 2007 world cup. They lost their six consecutive matches, most of their players were either out of form or injured, but they come back in the world cup and won all the matches, including the cuo.
I think they will soon come out of the crises, because they are professionals

Any side that loses the likes of McGrath, Warne, Langer, Gilchrist and Hayden to retirement is obviously going to take time to adjust. They still have great players like Mike Hussey And Brett Lee and they are led by Ricky Ponting. I feel that they will beat England in Australia in 18 months and everyone will say that they are back. England only beat them remember due to the rain breaks in the first test.
