the importance of eating fruit in an empty stomach. If you mix it with other food, or eat it later, you will not get the same vitamins than if you let the fruit be alone in your digestive system. I think we should check that information and I wanted to pass it to you. So many of us eat fruits after the meals. What do you think? Did you know about this?

whenever possible i try to eat fruits first then have my meals. but i guess it won't help much as i eat the meal right after i finish my fruit. hehe. i never actually understand the logic of it (except making you fuller and not overeat your meal) and how much time is needed between eating fruits and the meal as this is one of the eating habits recommended by my religion. glad to know why.

I just read that, but I must say I don´t practice it. I eat my fruit as I have done since I was little: as a dessert.

I find that interesting. I haven't heard that before. Was it from a reputable source? Have you tried that yourself? I can't see how that would happen. I eat fruits at various times, both with and without other foods. If it is better to eat it alone, I will rethink how I eat. Where did you see this? Thanks for sharing this.

I wish that I could get myself to eat like that. I grew up in a house where there was always sugar cereal and generally unhealthy foods. I don't eat nearly enough fruits and vegetables. I guess I should start eating better, but it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. Not to say that it can never happen, but it is definitely not easy. Have a great day!!!

You gave me a good laugh! I remember when butter was banned. We were supposed to changre to marguerine. I was the only person I know who did not yield to that. I don´t like margerine, I love butter. I don´t like nutrasweet, I like sugar. Sorry! And if I had more money, I wouldn´t have stopped smoking. Smoke did wonders for my lungs!. I just wanted to pass this information. As for me, lately I use fruit more to cook than to eat it alone. Except for the apricots of my tree.

So this means that if a person eats fruits along with other food article ex:bread, then the body will not gets most of the vitamins of the fruit. So where does the vitamins of the fruit go? Does it vanish into thin air?

Hi marguicha, Aunty is quite right on this being yet another food do and don't which will no doubt be replaced with the exact opposite advice in a very short time. What is bad for us one day is then proven to be good for us the next day and so it goes on. Personally I couldn't face anything on an empty stomach without filling it with coffee first and if I am in a fruit mood would more likely have it as a refreshing daytime snack.

I do exactly the same as you do. I passed the news because here there are many people that are interested in food as health. Personally, I love to eat. Period. I don´t eat a lot, so I´m not overweighed much (I´m shedding slowly the pounds I put on when I quit smoking). But if company comes along, I´ll EAT. And DRINK. And LAUGH. I´m writing here with my first (of many) coffee mugs of the day. Happy posting!

That's good to know. I makes sense, since many fruits take longer to digest that other foods. I usually eat fruid in between meals, not after. I find that the slower I eat the fuller I get with less food. So, I try to eat meals really slow so that I no longer have room for dessert or fruit. All bets are off if dessert is chocolate cake...lol.
