What did you do to avoid catching a cold?

Two months ago I was in a train trip; unfortunately I was in a cold when I started. I got it from my nephew. So I was avoiding to talk with people during the trip. However a girl who is about 6 years old was curious with me and always tried to close me or cause my attention on her. She even picked my book to read when I was going to toilet. I told her mother about my cold and wished she can stop the girl near to me. However the mother did not mind it and said the girl is very healthy, she eats at least 5 fruit and vegetables a day. She’s not easy to get cold from others. I suppose the mother was polite, I still felt sorry and uncomfortable when the girl tried to near me. This trip made me to think how people do to avoid catching a cold. For me I always avoid contact with anyone who has recently had a cold, and avoid getting caught in the rain. How about you? What did you do to avoid catching a cold?

I always keep up with the prevention rather than going for the cure after the diseases have come on to you. Cold is the most common of all diseases and i.e why its called 'common cold'.I always drink boiled water, use my own towels and dress not of friends if they have any symptom of a fever or cold, changing the daily diet for some days too can help for the prevention. The cold food items like a guava, watermelon and similar fruits must be avoided, also consumption of food products like curd, and some vegetables like beetroot, can give cold too.

Well prevention is better than cure they say and it's true too, getting a disease out of your body needs lot of efforts rather than not letting it catch you.

This is a good discussion which will help many people to share the tips and tricks to be away from cold. This is the time of cold and other fever related contagious diseases and we should be extermely careful about them. Here are some of the tips: 1. Keep yourself away from peopel who are suffering from cold or fever. 2. Don't eat food from street vendors when there is a rain and when you know that there are contagious diseases spreading in the city.

don't work too hard or let me put it another way, don't sacrifice your health for too much time in work or diet and exercise. too bad for the Mom, she doesn't realize how cold can affect every one even if the girl is so-called healthy. you did the right thing, maybe you could have talked to the girl with a gas masked. that would been okay too..

yes, you are right. I did not know a girl would like to near me. in fact i don't think children would be interested me. it's a special experience in my life. the girl seemed just like me and ignored other passagers who tried to talk with her. thanks and happy mylotting.

Garlic is a natural anti-viral, and as we should know the cold is a virus as is the flu! The important thing with Garlic is to get the chemical allicin from it - this is anti-viral part of it... So I would recommend allimax tablets. My parents (both in their late 50's) have been taking these every day for the last 5 years and have only had 1 cold! The garlic really needs to be raw or only very slightly cooked to give you the benefits... so tablets it is for me! Also Echinacea which boosts your own body's natural virus fighter interferon, as well as stimulating the production of white blood cells - the body's defense cells.... Of course the standard... 5 fruit or veg a day, get enough sleep... etc also applies!

personally i think Garlic would be a good food for us to avoid a cold. in fact Garlic has more benefits than the one you mentioned. However there are really a huge people dislike garlic in the world. It's a pity. I heard a saying of Garlic, it is if you don't like Garlic, it means you don't like life.
