I have visited a art galary and there I found a painting titled "Nude Woman". I observed the paintings closely to reason the name with its contents. I could not find any clue why the painter had given the title. The painting was of a young lady in her saries and a portion of the deep pink saree was lying besides her. The lady was facing a mirror and the painter had just showed the back of the lady and sides of the mirror witbut any reflection over it. The mirror was at an angle which does not reflect the person standing in the position of that girl. The face was little turned to her right and one can see her bashful pretty cheeks, pink with rush of blood on to it. Could you help me understand why the painting was titled so? Women are choosen as object of paintings by a number of artist, but the painting I am discussing at the moment was amazing.

Was any part of the saries covering her face? Even though you couldn't see her face, if it was uncovered, that could be why. Or it could be that there was nothing in the painting to see but the woman herself, even though she was clothed, so you had to study what you could see, therefore the woman is "exposed" to the viewer without being uncovered?

It could have been more better if you have a picture of such painting. But this is my thoughts about it: I don't think you need to understand the painting literally. Paintings are expressions of the artist, and they have the license to title it whatever they want.

Than why the painting of Monalisha was so popular among the world community? Actually, we understand a lot of paintings if we go deep in to it. But some paintings are difficult to understand. You are right in a way that the painter has something in his mind while making a painting and we never get to know that.
