Are the eyes really the window to the soul?

I think it's true. We can practically read others' mind just from starring on their eyes. Whether someone is telling a truth or lie, we can catch it from his/her eyes straightly. There's an old saying that eyes are window of the soul. I think that is because eyes is believed that can't lie. Actually this old saying is true. We all can try to validating this old saying whether it's really true or not. I believe everyone has minimum one time in his/her life trying to lie someone, perhaps our parents, or our teacher, or else, and on that situation, our eyes can't look at them straightly because we thought that if our eyes getting caught by them, they will find the truth. Don't get me wrong, but i think it is more of a figure of speech. It is not pertaining to the eyes "perse" but more on the responds in the persons eyes. It is like how a person looks at you; does he/she looks at you with glee, or as if you are naked. things like that. You can judge or understand the persons intentions and motives by the way they look and the way they respond.
