The record high temperature in Austin was 112º on Sept. 5, 2000. Per: http://www.austin.com/content/blogcategory/192/364/ - And believe me, I remember that day - MISERABLE!!! So what if its almost September - we've already had 67 days of 100 or more temps this summer and minimal rainfall - maybe setting a new record driest year, unless things change in the next few months...

I remember the year we had 41 days over 100 in a row. It was miserable. I do not know about total numbers. Those were just days in a row.

elicbxn yes Texas is a really hot place to be in the summer and fall never been there but read about it. we have been in this heat wave for about a week and its wearing me down. its dry and the forests and hills are tinder dry.the big fire is in LaCanada in the angeles forest and close to mt wilson and the big observatory.so hope it doesnt go
]up the mountain. people have already lost their homes and they claim it will take to Sept 8th to get that fire out.I think today is expected to be only 93 so thats a bit better

Hi hatley,
I'm waving to you from across the country. Here in New England right now it is really chilly and rainy. I have been wearing a sweatshirt all day and still not really warm. A week ago we had our heat wave for the summer and it really was pretty suffocating. A good portion of our summer here has been rainy and cold. It has rained so much here. hope you have air conditioning,Hatley.

Hi hatley,
Sending you net weather...it is so awesome right now here. Today was a typical fall day. It was cool enough that you wanted sleeves but a sweatshirt would have been too much. Just beautiful. Yes you can see a slight change in the leaves but not too much yet...give it another week or so. That is weird turning on the air at 7pm. Wonder why. I don't have air conditioning so I just bear with it when we have our little heat waves. Luckily they don't last long. We just put on the fans, pull the shades and strip down to bare essentials.

hi stephcjh ah 75 that sounds really good.its about ninety tody which is b etter than it was.The one big fire thats still out of control is spreading and in no way close to being controlled at all.its caused a lot of damage and a lot of homes have been destroyed all because some fool had to set a fire just for fun I guess. why do they do it? that fire has caused a lot of the heat I am sure.I am not close to the fire but I do feel for those who have lost their homes due to the fire.

here in the philippines if 91 outside, and whats not nice is we only have two season, the wet and the dry season. so we experience hot season more than the rainy season. when it rains it just gives us more heat after the rain. lucky if it rains from morning for that would be a cool afternoon but rains cause trafic and flood. i guess weather became very strange already

it gets really frustrating when it gets very hot and we dont have any cooling device to help us with. oh we have electric fans but during the very hpt season it does not really help at all so we just shower atleast 3 times a day to make us feel cool. we always thirst for the rain but when typhoon comes it cost flooding and traffic is a headache. weather is really very strange already we no longer know when is the rainy season and when does summer ends. but the heat that cost fire there in your country is very alarming, i can see like that on tv news.

hi roniroxas i had heard that the philippines only had two
seasons . i imagine the rains with the heat could make you'miserabvle but if you have some cooling that will help a bit.'Here its hot agaIn today but not quite as bad. about 93 and very dry. the fires are probably causing some of the heat. the big laCanada fire is still burning out of control and people have already lost homes.

hi roniroxas most of these fires were sad to say set by arsonists, which is so sickening . how anyone could enjoy watching a fire destroy trees and homes is just beyond me. it must be a mental sickness for sure. I had always thought the monsoons were pretty predictable but I bet all the changes we all see are caused by the global warming.

hi animegirl good seventy five sounds so good and cool.my
son wants to move to Northern California as he likes the idea of cooler weather and i think me too. i think that hot septembers and wild fires go together and the fires actually push up the overall heat. the one in LaCanda is still out of control and many have lost everything.we are not close so we are safe enough'

Here in the Philippines, the weather is as weird as it can be. Right now my thermometer reads ninety-five and it's almost noon. Come afternoon, it will rain torrents and will be quite cold. This is very bad for my asthma, but I can't do anything about it.

And yikes...can you believe it's to be September soon..where the heck did this year go to anyway???

close enough to it to be at all at risk.just we can see the huge cloud that is towering many feet into the air. Its about ninety here now so its not as bad as yesterday. Septembers are usually hot,but also the fires make it worse.

Hello!
I wish we could have a heat wave and it has been much cooler this summer for us and with so much more rain. In June there was a cool off with some rain and I remember having to wear a hoodie and jeans because the Temps were just around 70. I think the warmest has been in the higher 80's and it was only for a day or so and then te temps dipped down once again . I wanted more swimming days but hey what can you do. I think we will have an Indian summer though and no doubt this winter will be cold with lots of snow . Maybe a white xmas havent seen one since a kid.

Wow, that is hot. It seems to be about the same temperature here and I reside here in San Antonio, Tx. It has been like that for awhile and then it started just a tad to like 97 degrees. I'm like man that is still hot. I would just love for it to drop down into like the 80s or something. But it probably won't drop to that temperature until maybe october. Ugh, I miss my winters. It doesn't even seem like we hardly get those any more. I have a friend that lives up north and there its like in the 70s. I'm like man please send some of those temperatures down here, cause we really truelly need to cool off lol. We've been getting rain lately, but before we did not have any rain for some time now. But wow, its normally hot like that though, right over there in california? Hopefully it'll start cooling off for the both of us pretty soon.

It was 100 and then 102 degrees all through the week until yesterday. We got a storm Wednesday night. Yesterday it was cooler, but humid. Today it was actually nice. In the 80s, but not a lot of humidity. I wished I had a lawn chair because I would have loved to sit out and get some sun. I would have loved the silence.

I wish you would all stop talking in Fahrenheit, I havent got a clue what you are on about. But you wanna know heat wave, we have over 40ºC (thats Centigrade - you know the one that has 0º for freezing and 100º for boiling) and the rice fields are catching fire and they are full of water. Thats pretty hot in my book. Oh and if you wanna know what 40º translates to in F then you better go find a converter online. LOL

No its not very hot here at the moment at all. I am in the UK near London and it is starting to get a bit chilly now, we had some hot weather for 2 weeks back in July but then it was just cold and raining, which is typical British weather
I think here at the moment its around 17/18 degress celsius, im not sure what that is in farenheit.

hi kitty I have heard NYC can get really warm. I know when we lived in arizona the buildings would hold heat and at night you could walk by and touch the walls and they would be really hot. that fire in LaCanada is totally out of control.its not close to us but a lot of peopple have already lost their homes. it threatens mt.wilson where a lot of important stuff like the astronomy dome is located.so they are trying to keep that area wetted down.from where we are we can see these giant smoke clouds just sickening and so scary.

hi kitty 42 the big one is still pretty bad but they said they are making some headway with it. now another one is heading towards
Yucapia where my best friends husband lives. she told me this morning its only six blocks from his home. so I am worried for him as Nelda is still married to him although they are separated. He was one of those people who married a woman but really loved another guy, eventually he had to tell her he was gay although they did have one child together. she still loves the guy.So I do hope it doesnt get anycloser to the town. there are 12 different fires now burning in ca according to the newscaster.not all of them are anywhere close however.s ome are probably down San Diego way.

You are right it can get pretty hot here, this year we have been blessed I was able to deal with the heat without complaining too much so thats always a good thing, I feel so bad for all the people that lost their homes , I tried calling my friend left a message she didn't return my call, I am sure she is o.k every time I hear about things like this I worry about her and then she will call and let me know there was no danger to her or her loved ones.
I hope by now the fires are under control, my heart and prayers are with everyone keep us posted my friend smoochess to you.
