What type of qualities do you expect from a good friend?

I've found it a bit difficult to make friends over the years but I think it's because of my expectations. I have very high expectations and I expect alot from anyone who claims to be my friend. The main thing I expect from a good friend is honesty. You have to be honest to even get in close enough to develop a friendship. You also have to be trustworthy. I have to be able to trust you with my life with no second guessing. What type of qualities do you want your potential friend to have.

Hello realsmack Welcome to mylot, I was so into the movie thing I did not realize you were new sorry about that, I requested you friendship hope to accept, Well I want to be able to trust my friend with anything, I want my friend to be loyal to me honest annoying at times, everything that a family is I want that in my friend it takes time to call people a friend, some people will meet you for one day and be like you are my best friend, nah not me, I really have to know for sure before I give anyone this label, I mean here its different, we can be friends on a mental level in mylot, we are speaking in face calling on the phone,sleep overs type of friendships right?

oh it's all good, no worries. I totally excepted your "friend" request Even on Mylot I still consider the "friend" label a consideration. Everyone starts out as an associate and then we work our way to the friend level. Everyone isn't your friend and once we learn this, we'll be better off. Thanks for the welcome

Hello my friend I find it so much easier to say that as oppose to spelling out some of the names here lol Thanks for accepting my request I have connected with a great group of people here and this makes me really happy so far everything has been great I hope you enjoy your time here as much as I do, there are some good people in mylot I hope my luck continues and I only connect with people that have good intentions

like you...i want my friend to be trustworthy...and to accept me for what and who i am... finding real friends are hard realsmack.. i may have hundreds of friends..but i only have a few close ones whom I caonsider my real friends... others are just there when times are good... the real friends are the ones that stay behind you even in bad times

I am so with you on that one, that alone is how you can figure out if your so called friend is an actual friend to you. IF they dip out on you when you're going through the mist, then guess what?.. no need for me to say. I think it's been a long time since I've had a real friend. I think I can take it back to highschool. I'm just so picky about who I dabble with. Just like relationships, you can get your heart broken in a friendship as well.

sounds like you are very cautios when it comes to relationships realsm!! I do not limit myself on who to make friends though...But i know how much to give..what to tell... you know,whom to trust!

well, for me, I would like to say I support your view on friends should be honesty to each other for the first step. Moreover, I wanna my friends share his or her opinions with me always and do not let me guess what he/she gonna do. Futhermore, we could help each other whenever each one need help.

Being able to actually talk to your friends and give your own opinion is wonderful characteristic to have. I Think that is most important, if you can't be yourself around your friend then why even bother?

I expect most to my friends are good character and honesty,In my opinion,If a person don't have both features ,He or she may not be a good friend to me .But to tell the truth ,like you ,It is difficult...

It really is because people just aren't genuine anymore. I think that is the thing that bothers me the most. I don't even try to make frienda anymore because people ahve no concept of being a good friend. Great qualities and expectations taogang

maybe it is because your expectations are too high...nobody is perfect...sometimes your friends tell lies, maybe they dont want to hurt you....for me, i hope i can get more passion and confindence from my friends

To expect honesty and trust is far from being a high expectation. Anyone who doesn't include at least these two are cheating themselves. My type of friendships have to be of quality and I won't take anything less than that.

the perfect description for a good friend can be found on Proverbs 17:17. Try opening it...You can really tell. God does not lie...
