This day an age, we all use cars to get around. but are there any hard core walkers out there? Anyone who would give up the chance to drive a car for a good old fashion stroll?

Hi there, I live in a little city where almost everything is within walking distance if you're not in a hurry or not carrying heavy load. And I don't have a car and I don't know how to drive. So I just walk and I always walk for exercise and to save money or help in the environment. I just ride if I really need to and I let my cousin or brother or dad drive me to somewhere when i needed a ride.

I live in a huge city, The City of Las Vegas! It's so big but everything I need is within a couple blocks. so most of the time, I walk. If anything is too far away, I just use the buses.

I would love to be able to walk everywhere. Sometimes it's just not feasible, but whnever it is, I choose to walk. I also like t bike and if I lived where I could, I would either bike or walk everywhere. I have already given some thougts to selling my vehicle. But I still like to drive those long distances to see family and such!

Of course there are always other modes of transportation like biking or hitchhiking! I understand. Long distances can be a drag. we all got to do what we got do do, right? Thanks for answering!

I already forgot how to drive. I like walking but some streets are not safe for pedestrians. But for now, I try to walk to and from walk. If I can't, I just commute.

Sounds a lot like me. I haven't driven in so long, I've forgotten how to. I was a terrible driver anyway and personally I don't think I was fit for the road. But the upside is I've learned to love walking. Thank you for your post.

I like to fly !!! I'm a walker... The hardcore walker you were searching for, search no more. I'm this guy who's always short of money and I have a girlfriend too, so you can imagine how surprisingly fast I spend ... So I prefer walking to save money ...

Oh wow ! thanks for the best response buddy... I once saw in a cartoon, we save the earth and increase our health when we use our legs... Walking, cycling, roller skating, they all avoid pollution and make you stronger ! So use your legs and make the earth and yourself stronger !

I like walking. to me walking is the best way to take exercise. it's very flexible. you can choose the route as well as your pace. it's also the most effective way for me to lose weight. I walk almost 2 hours a day. although sometimes i feel tired but i feel comfortable after it. I don't dislike driving. However driving makes me nervous. so if it's not necessary i prefer walking to get to the place if i can.

I much rather drive than walk. This is just because I am very, very lazy. Also, I do like to drive short distances,I find it fun and exciting! You never know what the road will bring you next! Just take a car, blast the radio, and have some fun!

That's good too. To feel the wind in your hair when you drive down a stretch of road. It reminds me of my moms' Sunday drives. Thanks for Responding!

I usually take the road on my bike. But I like walking too.Walking along a peaceful road by night with music or just with a friend is so very enjoyable. :)

It depends on how far away something is and the weather. If it's as hot as it is right now I really don't want to be walking to the store that happens to be right down the street. But when it's the holliday season it's nice to walk right past traffic to the mall and say "haha suckers, it's good to be king"

It depends upon the situation and to where I go. If the place thati need to go is far and need to bring a car I go to drive but if it is too short distance better off the driving. I can save also the gas. I walk and my body can do the exercises which promote also health.

I would rather just be driving every where I go. I think if I'm walking somewhere it would take me forever to get there. I like to get to place quickly. Plus with me trying to walk there in this weather we have I wouldn't make it half way down the street because its so hot outside. Now on the other hand if the weather was a lot cooler and I had no other means of transportation, then i'd probably walk around the corner and they have bus routes here. Back at home before I moved to a big city and got married where the place had bus routes and I was out on my own. I walked a lot. That was like 6 years ago and I walked to get around and basically there really wasn't any bus routes around places that I needed to go. And now that I moved away, I hear that they now have bus routes. I'm like hey were was those buses when I needed them lol.

Hi Jeff It would depend on how far the location of where I wanted to go was. Of course most people can't walk to work so they need to drive , However on a nice day if its not over 5 miles I will walk no problem. Its a great way to get a little excerise in and walking is also very good for you.

Hi Jeff, I really enjoy walking places and would probably love to walk everywhere if I could. My love it has been somewhat dampened recently though because I started to get yelled comments from passing motorists. Walking is definitely lot more fun without harassment from complete strangers! There are days when I think that walking across the country would be fun. Or some other challenge like that since just walking in my home town doesn't please me anymore. But yea, if I could walk without fear and paranoia, then I would love to do it more often. I imagine living in an era before cars would have suited me better than this modern age (even though I do really like buses lol). All the best, Dranz :)
