Hi, I will be traveling to Europe this coming October. I will be a getting a 1 month Eurail Pass so that I can visit as many countries as I can. I will be traveling with my sister and my mom. Just want to ask those who have traveled to Europe using Eurail if which is safer to do, sleeping on couchettes or sleeper at night time or just sleeping in regular train seats? Some told me that it is safer to sleep in regular seats than getting a sleeper and being with 3 other people in a confined space. How about you?what do you suggest?

I have traveled all over Europe by train and slept in sleepers at night without any problems whatsoever. I slept in couchettes which have three bunks on each side. In other parts of the world I have slept in four of two berth sleepers. Again it has been really safe.
When I shared a couchette compartment with five Swedish guys I was surprised. They were fine and didn't give me any bother at all. I have slept in the compartments that can sort of fold down if only four people are in it. That is alright but having a sleeper or a couchette I find is more comfortable.
I keep my handbag close to me and wear a money belt hidden under my clothes. The top bunk has most space so it safer because I can put my luggage up there. I hope that you will have a wonderful time exploring Europe.

An interesting post. That is exactly what I am looking for, a train tour through europe. I would very much appreciate if you can share with me your experiences when back from the travel. Thanks in advance.
