I'm moving next week. I've been renting at the place i'm at now for 4 years and my daughter's height measurements are on the back of her closet door. I was so upset when i realized i'd lose that. My boyfriend told me he is taking the door with us. We will replace the door but i thought it was so sweet for him to basically order me to take the door because i had said we can't really do that. he said it means that much to you i'm taking the door. Man i love him.
Do you have measurements of your kids somewhere or have you ever had to leave that behind in another house?

No, I never did that. But if you know someone with a good digital camera, have them take a picture of it then print it out to actual size....and put it up on the dor in the new place.
My kid stayed little for a long time, he did not seem to grow. At 17, he was among the smallest in his class...but over the summer he grew to be almost the largest....From 5' 3" to 6 ft tall in one summer. Gained 60 pounds as well. Watching him grow was like watching paint dry. Very boring!

I wish I'd thought to use a door oh about 13 or so years ago! We always (and I mean as I was growing up) used the corner molding of a wall so when it was my little ones turn to be measured I used a wall. Walls do not move as easily as doors unfortunately so I lost quite a lot of those precious memories. My oldest will be 14 in a few months and I only have measurements of the kids for the past year.

poppoppop111 hi oh yes we moved when the kids were little and
we left that behind and I felt so sad but it was on a door
frame and couldnt be moved. that is so sweet of your
boyfriend to do that for you. of course you would have had
to square that with whomever is renting the place.

That is a wonderful idea. I have never done that. Your boyfriend is a fine catch.

I've never had to go through that but you are not the first person who has. My friend did the exact same thing, and I helped her hang the new door. It was her daughters bedroom door of a house they were renting. They had lived there 6 years before they bought their own house. Her daughter's door to her room not only had her growth measurements but it had her hand prints in paint done at each one of her birth days.
She was so freaked out when she was moving that she couldn't take it with her that I just took the door off and handed it to her. Then she freaked again because I took the door down of the place she was handing the keys over to in about 2 days. It was funny. But really touching too.

That is so sweet! I remember when I was 12 and we were moving. My parents had marked me and my siblings heights on the door frame and my mom was so sad to leave it behind. A few days after we moved, the landlord called and said we forgot something at the old place. My mom went to pick it up and he had pried the door frame off and gave it to my mom because he knew it had sentimental value!
