Has mylot ever inspired you to be creative?

eCard Example - Well I wasn't going to bother adding an image to this discussion, but since it mentions that I used to make eCards I decided to add an eCard to it!

It was hard to choose the one to add and so I went for one of my all time favourite ones. It is from the Dynasty warriors series of games, I think that is the 6th one. I added this to the site I mentioned on my birthday a few years ago as a birthday gift to myself. I still like it, though these days I could do the spider a little better lol!

Enjoy

Creative as used here can be through writing, maybe thinking up discussions, and in the context I am using it: design! (As well as anything you can think of!) Long before I joined mylot I was actually on another site and I made eCards for that site. It was an anime site so all the eCards were anime, and you didn't make money or anything for them, it was more for fun. But that site though went downhill and the people I associated with left, and so I ended up leaving as well since it ceased to be an enjoyable pass time. And with leaving the site I lost my desire to create anything. A few days ago though when I made the Strength vs Beauty discussion I was randomly inspired again to dust off photoshop and make something, and since then I keep having that urge, which even stretches to wanting to try and draw images for discussions I plan for the future! I am quite enjoying this new feeling since it takes a lot to get me creative, so feeling like this is a buzz. But yea, have you ever been inspired to be creative because of mylot? Do you still do that or did the novelty fade pretty quickly? Many thanks for any responses and I guess for inspiring me in this way as well:) Dranz

Hi DCLehnsherr, well - what mylot has given me is an opportunity to bounce my ideas and thoughts, which if I were to do in my own group of friends, they would run away! Well, it would look as if I just want to talk whole day about what I think and what I want to do. It would be the big "I" all the way. I could end up arguing with one of my friends, and losing him or her! But here, I have different groups with varied interests, and I can express myself without fearing that I am boring somebody (well the mylotter asked for it - he he ). My creative thoughts existed with me most of the time, it is just that they were not expressed. I dont know whether my expression is lucid enough. I am surprised I received some best responses. I guess the person gave me BR because of the post's length. :-) Kidding. I remember one of ur previous discussion, I expressed the study I would like to undertake. That I think was opening my bag of creativity, which I have not shared with many, not even with my close, non cyber friends. And there were plenty of such thoughts since my childhood, which I bottled up. :-) Felt good to let them out and what more to be appreciated. :-)

Hey Vandana, I think if I got into depth with anyone in reality as much as I do on mylot the poor people would end up extremely confused, and then would probably try and run away. Either that or they would end up depressed lol. It is quite odd but I hadn't considered thoughts as being inspired creativity, but the way you described them as such is amazing. I am glad to know that one of my discussions inspired you as well, your answer there really was completely amazing. Oh and your ideas have always seemed perfectly lucid to me lol Many thanks for sharing your thoughts once again :) Dranz

Since MyLot is mostly about thought/philosophy and its expression in words and I am also largely a 'word' person, MyLot is, I find, quite a good place to come for ideas. Not only are forums like MyLot and Yahoo! Answers quite good as indications of what many people on the Internet are interested in and searching for (so a good source of ideas if you are into niche marketing), they can also be places which spark a, maybe, dormant interest and inspire one to 'go off at a tangent' and write something original and creative. Those with a more graphic bent may find MyLot equally inspiring, though I seem to prefer Flickr and Deviantart as places to inspire my graphics creativity (which, I have to say, is more wishful thinking than actual or real! ... I do like to draw, paint and photograph and, perhaps, have some aptitude but seem to suffer much from my own self-critical nature.)

I think I am becoming more creative in my thoughts. Since joining mylot I have read many discussions and also started quite a few. There are discussions which make me think and weigh the pros and cons. Also I get to read other people's views. Some discussions also provide knowledge.

To get a good discussion going, you need to be creative. Creative in making a good discussion will make your discussion successful. Hence myLot does help you to be creative. Also by seeing other discussions, we get new ideas to start a new discussion.

Well, hello again Dranz, it seems you are very creative with your discussions I love My Lot and I'm thinking to myself that it has helped me to be very creative in terms of writing and posting. I think that, because of My Lot I have been very creating in relation to my writings on the website Helium. I have submitted over thirty articles on that site and I do attribute this to being a long term member of My Lot. I don't think that I am creative in anything else other than writing. It sounds as though you have been very creative though and I think that your creativity can only improve and improve and improve from being a member of My lot. Nice talking with you Dranz. Andrew

I think mylot gives everybody a chance to be creative, in many different kind of ways. For me, I have always been a very fluent reader and writer even before I joined mylot. This might not really be called creativity, but I've learnt to respect other peoples opinions, and in real life, that somehow helps me to be patient with other people when they are talking or doing something.

Hi! Yes it did help me be creative. It challenges my mind and allows me to think faster. I am also learning from a lot of people here at mylot. It teaches me cultures of other people, their views and opinions. Before, im just used to joining forums but now im starting my own discussions and im always looking forward to what others think about a certain topic. I love MYLOT!

Hello, Dranz - another interesting discussion from you, thanks. Soon after I joined Mylot, I was answering a discussion. The post was quite long, and I found myself thinking it would make a good article topic. The subject was 'spare the rod and spoil the child,' basically whether or not people agreed with smacking children. From the response, I got a 600 word article, which is earning well on Helium. So the short answer is - yes, Mylot has inspired me to be creative, as I have turned several responses into full blown articles since then.
