Hi! I'm new to myLot and I'm not quite sure what I'm doing. I've click on all the above tabs to find out how much a member gets paid for starting a discussion, posting discussions, etc., and can't seem to find this information. Then I read in one of the posted discussions about a woman deciding which post was the best. This confused me evan more. I tried to find a tab that would tell me how to reach mylot to ask these questions but had no luck. FAQ's helped a little, but not much. Do you only get paid .02 for each discussion? Does this amount go up as you answer more discussions? Do you get paid more starting a discussion or posting a response? Is myLot based on buying what advertisers sell?
I really would appreciate some anwers to the above questions. I've had a injury just recently, and am trying to make extra money to pay off a hospital bill. I had no insurance. A friend told me about the site but she doesn't seem to know any of the answers either.
Your help in answering these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Mylot has a complicated matrix that figures out the amount of pay for each thing you input into a discussion, weather you do a post, response, or a comment! There is no fixed amount, they base it on your grammar, spelling, rating, and the amount you write! The more you type the more you make is crude but true! As long as it is pertinent to the topic! This is the basics! I usually suggest that new people here do responses before they start posting in order to make friends and get a feel for the site! This is graet place, that's why there are over 181,000 members! tdemex

Thanks for the info. I thought I read somewhere that you needed only four sentences to respond. So I've been keeping my responses short and sweet.
Your right about getting a feel for the site,as I am having trouble navigating back to previous discussions to add comments. I like the site though. Reading some of the discussions and responses is a real hoot.
Thanks again for your help.

thanks for your wise comment tdemex, i think your right about the earnings here at mylot. but i had one question, how would they know how good your grammar (spelling etc..) is? i mean i don't think someone from Mylot is reading al the comments and check each users grammar.
+ed your message;)

They don't monitor that, what it does is make more people who read your post or comment more attracted to you! Then they would pay more attention, perhaps ask to be your friend, follow you around, and best of all give you a plus on your responses and posts! Thus increasing your star, this does affect your earnings! Good luck here! I haven't been very active here lately. All the money I've made here, I reinvested in sites that earn me more cash. Last week I finally got my own Go Daddy web pages and blog! So I've been spending time setting that up and it's a very hard learning process to do it right! tdemex

Hi pst! Nobody know for sure how much member get pay for posting in here. Only the Admin. know the answer and he want it remain a secret inside Mylot. According to the admin. the calculation is based a complex algorithm software used, like the star rating, number of posts and many others factors to calculate your earning in posting thread and responding to thread. I will say it is about few cents a response for me based on my own calculation. Your pay rate can be different from me because you don't have as many posts and star rating , # of posts as me. Probably just a few fraction of cent difference. Cheer! and happy mylotting !

Hi pal! May be you can try write to the Admin. about how the calculation of pay rate is done in Mylot, and hopefully he is kind enough to explain to you in length and with all the details how their equation suppose to work, then you can come back and let all of us in Mylot know about it. Like i said in my previous comment, probably no one really understand how the calculation is done except the owner/ admin. It is a trade secret he probably want to keep it as it is, i am sorry i can not provide you with an answer to your above questions.

So am I to understand that the more I post, the more I get paid for each post?
What is the star rating exactly? That number beside your name is obviously the number of posts but, what about the other number that sometimes appears when you go to a discussion? I think there's a star with a number in it like 9. What does that mean. Then I read in one of the discussions that your ratings can go down. How does this happen?
Do you know anything about blogs? Is this just an extra incentive or, can you earn money blogging?
I do like myLot alot but, I just wish the Admin. would have a page anwering some of these questions.

Hi pstclaire,
Welcome to mylot.
Your earnings is base on the quality of your posts(starting discussion/response/comment). One quality post may earn you more then 5 no-quality posts. And no one knows exactly how much you earn from your posts. 0.2 cents per discussion is totally nonsense. You could earn more or less from it.
If you started a discussion you will earn if someone respond to it and you only earn automatically from your first response (base on some senior information). If you want to earn more from your discussion, you have to give a comment on every responses that you receive. But make sure there is a quality on your comments. One or two sentences comments might not earn you anything. Repeated posts (response/comment) would not help you in your earnings.
To earn more, you can do some tasks. Just go to the tasks section and look any task that you can do. The amount you will earn from the task stated at the bottom of every task.
You also can earn from your referrals. You will get 25% bonus from your referrals earnings.
Welcome again and have a pleasant journey here.

Hi again pstclaire,
Since we are paid base on our own activities here, you will earn automatically from your first responder. But if you want to earn from the other responses, you have to give a comment on every response. That how you earn from your discussion. If you leave your responses without any comment, you would earn nothing.
The discussion with one response and hundred responses will earn you the same amount. But you can earn hundred times more on your discussion with hundred responses if you give a comment one every response.
The important thing here is your posts (discussion/response/comment/comment back) must have quality and length. One line post hardly earn you anything. Try to give a different comment on every response your receive.

Sorry I didn't comment sooner, but I'm having a little bit of a hard time navigating around this site.
You only earn from the first response you receive? What happens if you get 30 responses? You earn nothing from the other 29? Well,I guess posting is the way for me to go.
As for tasks, I just don't know if I have it in me to write 4 paragraghs about anything.
Thanks for the info.and, I am having great time here.

Thankyou for posting this, a lot of the replies here have clarified things for me too.I am happy enough that I have seen some earnings appear after only two days, I can see I could earn a little extra money on here of I commit some real time to this each day.
I am finding it is easy to respond to discussions here because there is something here for every interest, and I can see already that we can get paid for having fun! I am already making friends and enjoying the responses I have had.
I know how it feels with the hospital bills - I am struggling with the same thing and I know that every little helps. I would not have taken something like this seriously a while ago, but I was laid off from my job in February, and have some long term health issues and therefore bills, and if I can make $10 on here, even, I can pay a good chunk of a Doctors co pay visit, my prescription, or a couple of meals that week, or whatever.
So I wish you luck, don't give up on here yet, its great to chat with people and if you persevere hopefully your earnings will build up gradually.
x

Not much at the present time as I have not been posting as much as I would like to! This Bank Holiday weekend has been very different though and I have been very busy with creating and responding to discussions, this is the busiest I've been in a long time! I understand that, the more you post, the more you get paid and it particularly helps if you posts are lengthy and very descriptive! I'm afraid I'm not much help in this matter but I hope that I have provided some reasonable detail! Andrew

I'm slowly starting to build up my way for MyLot. Currently with a buck fifty on my account. I still have a long way to go. I'm trying to go for refferals but no one is really interested. I try and do tasks and post in lots of different discussions. I think MyLot is a great site and it's okay if you don't get that much money. At least you get money by posting on here. It is that easy and that is why MyLot is so lovable. I wish you the best of luck on MyLot and have a great day.

Hi pstclaire, welcome to MyLot. I recently joined myself and have no idea how members get paid. The admins have not revealed this 'secret' in the FAQ section. What I do know is that you'll have to be actively involved ie. posting, responding etc. religiously if you'd like to make a few extra dollars. Considering that you would like to pay off your hospital bill, you must ask yourself whether being actively involved on MyLot is worth the bit of money you could make EVENTUALLY, or is it better to focus your energy elsewhere, perhaps applying for a part-time position. If you enjoy browsing, reading posts, participating meaninfully in discussions and have plenty of time to spare, then you've found the right site. Wishing you well :)

Hello pstclaire and welcome to Mylot,
From what I have read, Mylot does not have a fixed price on how much you can make. They have there own system to calculate how much you get paid for each task you do. It can be from posting a discussion to responding to a comment. No two mylotters make the same amount. It's just not possible. My best advice to you is to just respond to topics that interest you.
I wish you luck in maxamizing your earnings from myLot. (:
