Hi, My 2 year old niece and my sister come to my house now. My niece cannot sleep at the right time and sleep at the other time. She don't sleep at night and awake and make others awake too. Now, my sister sing some rhymes and stories to my niece to make her sleep. What do you do to make your child sleep? Do you sing rhymes or songs? If so, can you share those? If you have some bed time stories tell it too, my sister is nearly ran out of stories. Also, tell your experiences in making your child sleep at the right time. Thank you..

I don't have a child but i do have cute nieces and nephew. When they are here I usually dance while humming. In that way they get dizzy. sometimes it's hard to put them to sleep especially when they get to rest in afternoon. If dancing really don't work I usually turn off the lights and scare them. love to hear them screeming.

yes, they are so cute when they scream and rushing to go back to bed(they are so cute when climbing). well, they'll get tired of it and eventualy if you ignore them they are already asleep. I always end up sleeping before them. DAncing while singing? yes! i don't know if im realy a good dancer. what i really know is they love it(as if they have a choice)

I have a question. Do you let your niece sleep during the day. If she sleeps during the day that is why she isn't sleeping at night. All of my children were going to bed and going to sleep by the time they were 2. Try to get her on a rutine.

Hello, 2 years old and she can't sleep? wow!!! I thought a few months. My kids sleep well during the night since they were 2 months old, only if they dont feel good then they awake sometime in the night... but not stay up. well, to avoid this then you need to keep her awake during the day time and dont give much nap to her, otherwise she will up all night. I dont sing to my children cuz I am not good with this singing thing, I just put them to sleep and lay there with them until they fall a sleep. or another way, you can bring her to the doctor to see if she has any problem with sleeping. But in the mean time, you have to cut back on napping and before bed time, give her milk and full of meal... cuz after she full she will feel sleepy...

Yes, you are correct. Now she(sister) is controlling her(niece) from napping. But also my niece awake earls as she nap a little. So, have to control.. So, your baby is a angel and didn't give you troubles while sleeping isn't it. That's really great.. Have a great day.

Children respond very well to physical touch to help them sleep. Gently rub your niece's arms or shoulders while you talk slowly and softly to her as she's laying down in bed. The gentle movement will calm her and the slow talking will help relax her. She'll sleep very deeply after this. Another reason some kids don't sleep at night is because they're not spending enough energy during the day. Get them out in the playground or playing in the yard during the day to use that extra energy and they'll sleep better at night.

My daughter is four. I make sure she spends time playing outside during the day and I take her to the park. She also comes out to walk the dog with me now she's older. This helps keep her active and use up all that energy so she sleeps well. Since she was a baby, I spend time gently massaging her while I'm talking slowly. She knows that it means time for sleep, so it only takes me 10-15 minutes now. When she was a baby it took a little bit longer.

So, for your 4 years old child you spend 20 minutes at bed. So, i guess my sister needs to spend more time with her bed as my niece is only 2 years old.. Thanks for commenting back.. Have a great day.

I make my grandchild sleep by putting on her favourite music or song. It is a bit difficult to make her sleep at night because she is more distracted by tv and our talking. But when put the lights off she goes to sleep. I think your niece should have less of sleep during daytime so that she gets proper sleep at night. Putting off the lights is also a good idea.

Putting on their favourite music makes them sit or lie down in one place and it will be easy for us to rock them off to sleep. The same song or music should keep on repeating which will automatically make the brain calm and allow them to sleep. Try this out and post the response.

With my two children, I've found that it is very important to develop a set routine to get them ready to go to sleep. Our routine starts with a bath to get the stink from the day off of them. Then, we will watch a little bit of TV together and have a bedtime story. We don't tell stories that we've memorized, but rather pick out a book and read it together. This both helps with bonding time and with instilling a love of reading early in a child's life. After story time we do kisses with everyone, and then it is off to the bedrooms. I try to make sure that the rooms are dark when I put the kids in, but I'll leave the doors open so I can hear if anything is wrong. My two-year-old never gets out of bed after we put him down, but we've followed this routine since he was a baby.

Hi dora, Yes, it is really a nice routine for a kid to sleep. Well, i will recommend the same to my sister. My sister have some routine but when she put the child in the bed of darkness and keep door little open just like you, baby always get out from the bed and come outside. It is the major problem.. Have a great day.

We don't have problems getting the oldest boy and the youngest boy to sleep usually. But the middle boy, we have problems getting him to sleep. He has severe ADHD and that is part of the problem, they have trouble with sleeping. The doctor finally prescribed some heavy duty medicine to help him go to sleep. Sometimes that works, sometimes not. So as much as I would like to say we sing him to sleep or read him to sleep, those things do not and have never worked on him and he is almost 8 years old. If you are singing or reading to him, he will never EVER go to sleep.

Hi, What is ADHD, may i know it? Yes, many of them swing their children for making their child sleep during the night.. In my locality they sing while singing, there is a special type of songs called 'thalattu'. This word is tamil word, sorry i don't know in english. This type of singing is especially for making their child sleep. It is not in the movie or pop album, it is spread from generation to generation without writing or recording.. Have a great day.

When my child was a baby, our best way to make him to fall asleep was to go out. It was very amazing that he could fall asleep soon when we brought him out. Now he grows up and he is five years old now. Every night we tell him stories, sing some children's songs and then play the game for a while. Then he will sleep soon after that. In fact we also let our child to tell us the stories that we told him. In fact I am running out the stories right now, too:) Let the child to repeat the story can practise his memory, speech and so on. I love China

Hi, Here are some tips to help your kids go to sleep (although I could give you better advice if I knew their ages..) 1. Keep a steady routine. Don't change their bedtime, and don't put them to bed without letting them settle down in their routine first. A good sample routine would be: 30 min. before their bedtime, help your kids into their pajamas and offer some warm milk. Give them some cuddle time/bedtime story, and then use a verbal cue (The same one every night--such as Sleep tight) so they know it's bedtime. 2. Put your child to sleep in the place they’ll spend the night. This makes a connection for your child between their bed, their bedroom and sleep that will make going to sleep there increasingly likely. Don't put them to sleep on the couch or in your bed and then move them--this can be frightening and disorienting when they wake up. 3. Once your child’s in bed, it’s crucial they stay there. Don’t give them any excuses to get out of bed unnecessarily. Make sure they have water to drink, and access to the toilet if necessary. 4. Try keeping exciting games (such as tickling or wrestling) as early as you can and finish off your play with calming activities such as jigsaws, reading stories or putting teddies and dolls to bed. Avoid computer or video games in the evenings as these stimulate your child and make sleep more difficult. I hope this helps

Hi zinzho, Yes, some nice music may help to make the child sleep. Turn off the light and TV is also good. I guess you are a nice story teller. Do you create your own story or download some from internet. If so, can you send me the link? Have a great day.

Let them use their energy in the morning so at night, they will be too tired that the only option left is to sleep. I don't have any children yet but i think it will be effective. I learned that old people also has a hard time sleeping at night, so the remedy would be, exercising. I guess that would work to kids too.

Hi koala, Yes, we will make her so busy and make her use her energy and don't let her sleep at the morning. I guess it will be a tough task but try to reduce her sleeping at morning. It may help to make her sleep in night. Thanks for your comments. Have a great day.

I don't have this problem by far . My boy is half a year now and when the sleep time comes we will throw him to the bed . He would eat his finger for a while and then fall asleep very easily . Well i will play some classic music around at that time. I would sing some rhymes and stories when i'm feeding him . I think some kids are hard to fall asleep and some might get easily . Form a good habit from the very beginning and then you will save a lot of trouble.
