This is something that should be a given! If we're going to spread the money around, just as in our private finances, we should always know exactly where it goes and what it does.

We should not only audit it, we should be moving to get rid of it. Instead, we continually give it more power. But even auditing it would be a start, open it up, see what it's been up to, and begin exaining it to see if maybe it is an aoutdated and inherently corrupt and dangerous entity.

Any financial institution that handles the public's money should be audited on a regular basis. It shouldn't be from a government agency but from several private sector agencies.
I was never so upset as when the government loaned GMC money and the CEO got his 60 million dollar bonus at Christmas time. No one has ever answered my question as to WHY someone is worth that much extra money, especially at a time where we have people losing jobs, teachers are being laid off or put on an extreme part time basis. We have people hungry and homeless, not by choice but from not being able to obtain jobs that pay enough to rent them a home and provide them food. The NAFTA treaty was signed and a LOT of our industry relocated outside the United States because they could get cheaper workers and make bigger profits. No thought was given to the citizens of the United States that have families, mortgages, and car payments...they were on their own.
Definitely the American people should see exactly where their money is going, and the corporations that are receiving loans from the government (actually the American tax payer) should provide an accurate audit from an external agency and those audits need to be provided to the American public so they can see where the money was spent.
