Who has worked in a very stressing enviroment? I don't know, but verbal abuse and getting corrected when you do something wrong at work is totally different, right?
Two weeks ago I was supposed to take 2 days vacation. I told my manager about it one and half month ago, but she said she was not going to say any thing to the doctor yet. So the day came when she decided to tell him, 1 week before my vacation. From what she told me he yelled at her that why she let me do that!!! That she was IMCOMPEDENT, STUPID and was a WORTHLESS manager!!!
The week came that I was going to take my vacation, but he was irritated with the idea of me leaving for 2 days!!!!!! I'm his assistant. We went to see a patient and the next thing you now he starts talking crap about a private facility he wanted to send the patient. He went out the room and continued, I mentioned to him that he should try to control his anger in front of the patient. He turned around and said that he could say what ever he wanted and front of who... obviously I didn't not want him to keep yelling with the office full of patients. I told him that we could talk about it after office hours. He said that I should not talk to him back, and that my head was getting to big for me and that I was a NOBODY!!!!!!!!!!
I WALKED OUT. He has treated my ex-manager like that for 30 yrs and she is on medication. I am not going to get treated like that by nobody.
What would you have done in my situation???

well, i think you should calm down firstly, even i know it is an absolutely disgusting thing. you should ask yourself if this job is very important to you, and if it is what you really want . if not, you can change it, it is not a big deal. you are not happy , and there is no reason to make this situation go on! if yes, maybe you should have a very serious talk to your manager, tell him all your problems, if he did not accept them, even having more verbal abuse, i think it is not worth for you to work for this rude and stupid person~~~~hope for good news, good luck..

Hi 123amy,
I did asked my self that question many times before that incident, and I decided I'll stay until he crossed the line with me. But it was a mental drain on me. I accepted how he was until I coulded take it no more, thats when I left. I feel sorry for the manager I always tried to keep him happy so he would not get on her case but I have to look out for me first. I have one month working at home and love it!!!!!!!!!!
Have you heard of someone who had any verbal abbuse at work?

For me I will kick his a**.. hehehe joke only. But I will rather try to tell him the situation around himself or if he still insist I will inform our top management about his unnecessary actions WITH evidence or to prove that unnecessary action. Like a video clip or a record of his voice. In this way you can teach him a lesson. I am sure the top management will not ignore this incident cause you are dealing with the patient and you think that is it right what he did to the patient.? For now calm down and wait for other same incident like that.

Wow!! This is totally unreal and unacceptable for sure. There is NO WAY I could ever work for someone who treated me like this, and especially a Doctor. If I were the patients and ever heard my Doctor or any doctor treating someone (a patient, or any of their workers) like this, I would find a way to report them for their treatment, and refuse to go back there again as well. I know jobs are hard to come by, but this is very inacceptable for sure.

antiz30 I would have done the same thing as that abusive Sob is not worth hurting over at all. as he has done this for many years he is'not going to change. He is arrogant and stupid at the same time.
I used to work as a nurses aid and I have met doctors just like that that were abusive verbally to the nurses and some patients.

Hey Hatley,
Thanks for your support, there are a lot of Doctors that are wonderful. But there are Professionals like Drs, lawyers, etc, that expect the little people (thats how my ex-employer referred to other people not of his social standard)to kiss his feet. There is another girl working for him at this moment and he already treated her like garbage. He told her to speak to him with respect not like one of her class. I know this because one of my friends works with another doctor in the same office and heard that. So all I can say WOW what a JERK!!!!
