Stupid Crappy Insomnia!

do you ever have trouble sleeping? It's nearly four am here and I can't sleep. I am wide awake, and I went to bed six hours ago. I lay in bed for a few hours, then gave up and got up and now I am on the computer. I tried reading to relax, and then going back to bed, but no good. I am too tired to think straight or get any work done. I can barely concentrate to work on mylot, and certainly can't do any writing in this state. Yet I cannot fall asleep. What do you do to help you fall asleep? I knew I shouldn't have had those four glasses of diet coke tonight at Applebees. Crud.

I know the feeling. I have the same problem. I try to stop drinking caffeine before I go to bed and exercise regularly to ensure that I sleep well. I also try to stay away from computers before going to bed as the bright light will prevent you from falling asleep. I try to read something when I cannot sleep or go for a walk outside.

That is very good advice, and I will try to take it to heart. I hope it works for you, as lying there trying to sleep is such a terrible feeling, when its night and everyone else is asleep, and there is nothing you can do. I am up at 4 this morning, but I'm not too upset about it because I finally got some sleep during the day yesterday.

I do have this problem sometimes and I find it very irritating at times so I manage to sleep only for six to maybe six and a half hours per day and not more as I am sure to atleast get a full sleep in this six hours.

Some days I manage to get six hours, some days I don't. Yesterday I was catching up on sleep and I slept for eleven hours, but that is rare. I think when your body is deprived of sleep for so long, you finally crash, and that is what happened yesterday. I am glad that you are able to get six hours, there are times when that is a blessing.

I know the feeling..four glasses of diet coke would do it for me too......when I am tired and can't sleep I know this sounds cheesy but I count to a hundred then start counting backwards.....in the morning I never even know where I quit! It helps keep my mind on something other then drifting around thinking about what I should or could be doing....

ha ha ha opalina143 we are in the same boat, the same case is with me but i have found out strange solution last night. it was around 5.30 am and iwas wide awake. After a while i proceed to the easyhits4u.com. it is traffic exange site. there you have to surf 25 site in single session. so i started the session and last thing i remembered was i slowly lifted my head from keyboard, returned the computer back from sleep mode, and looked at the watched. it was 7.30 am.

i get insomnia when i sleep a lot in the day time. however, if i have too many works or problems to think i will get insomnia as well even though i did not sleep during the day time. i believe insomnia strongly relates to your psychology, what have you experienced during the day time. in order to overcome this problem, i did some sit up, take bath and read boring books :), will sleep quite fast . why don't you try?

Oh,guy.I know the pain from sleeping. Serveral days ago ,I have the same problem . At that time ,someone told me drink some milk before sleep which was a good advice. And I am better now. I think the most useful advice is to keep in good mood. When you are in good mood, everything seems to be all right, so you can sleep deeply.

I just had this problem for two or three days recently. Either I used to lay awake for three to four hours at a stretch after going to bed after which sleep would reluctantly come to my eyes or the reverse. I slept soundly for the first hour or so and after that I remained wide awake. Seeing this, I started to work out vigorously during the day. Also I didn't take any quick nap any longer. All this has worked fairly well and now I usually go to sleep and wake up after 6 hours. Don't know whether you already do these things, in which case you should probably consult a doctor. High blood pressure is often a cause for insomnia. Meditation is a good way of bringing sleep but personally, I haven't been able to concentrate that much yet.

Maybe its the diet coke that you drank that made you harder to fall asleep. I sometimes drink coffee in the afternoon or at nite when its raining and it contribute to sleeplessness. I also have insomnia, and i can't do anything about it. I just watch tv, log on the net until i feel my eyes are drooping. These past days when I was taking meds for my colds, I feel drowsy and can sleep earlier and better, I guess its because of the meds that I am taking.

I know how you feel - I have trouble sleeping, except I am NOT really tired at the time, I am wide awake, I think I am truly nocturnal, so I can Mylot or whatever. The trouble comes for me the next day, when I am a complete zombie! I think I am naturally inclined this way, but a few things helped it along - I did six years of drama training and then worked in theatres and of course I was either rehearsing into the night, or I was working on shows that mean;t I finished work late at night. Then I met my husband, online! I was in England and he in America so there was a 5 hour time difference - we used to message online when he got home from work, which in my time was 11pm. So I pretty much got used to being up at night and now can't kick the habit!

I always have this problem on a Sunday night, because I've stayed up later on the Friday and Saturday that going to bed just an hour earlier on Sunday makes a difference. In the end I fall asleep later than I would have if I had gone to bed at the later time! It sucks when you are lying there and counting down the hours before you have to get up, even though it doesn't make a difference.
