Traveling Down Under

Are you a recent traveller to Australia from the United States or other western country? I have spent the last few weeks in Queensland, Australia and I normally reside in the midwest of the United States. I have been very suprised to see how the stress level of America and especially the recent financial stress that has seemed to be most serious in the United States does not seem to be affecting the land down under. Do you think this is because the economy has not been so hard hit or is it from the "no worries" attitude here?
