It is evident that we have become more lethargic and non-chalant. The advancement in science, technology and living style have given us all which our ancestors could only have dreamt of. We can change the channels with the touch of a finger and earn money sitting right in front of your computer in the comfort of our houmes. We can eat any vegetable or fruit irrespective of the season and produce hybrids with advanced technoloy without taking much effort. I believe that with the decrease in the mortality rate and increase in the average age of a human, we have come a long way. Do you think these changes have made us vulnerable & complacent ? Is this life better and it is what it looks like?

Every aspect of our life has both +ve and -ve impact. In this lifestyle everything is being easy to done and on the other way its very difficult for man to do the works with his own hand i.e depending upon the technology which makes man very lazy due to which there are lots of diseases being evolving.

It is really affecting. Today's lifestyle is really becoming worst. Foods are almost all processed which contributed to chronic illnesses. Many people now are integrating smoking and drinking in their daily routine which greatly damaged internal body system.

Hey,
Yes I definitely think that the lifestyle most of us live today is really affecting our health. I see many people just sit around at home in front of the computer or television, eating chips for the whole day lol. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Eeverything has two sides and the lifestyle we have now has no exception. Well of course we have a better life than in the past . We can access to more things easily and can enjoy more than before with the advancement of technology and science. However i think we are too busy to be quiet for ourselves . We lose the time to sit around to chat without any TV programs, surfing on net . Members in our families actually get more and more distant just because of lack of communication which people now do not have time to do it .

Weakness in relationships and getting further and further from friends and family is another gift of the advancement in technology and science. We tend to talk to the person sitting next to us via chat programs or phone instead of just popping in and saying "hi".

Yes! I totally agree with you. Life today is so fast-paced and much more, demanding due to competition in any business. True also, that we become lethargic and careless with our health. Even food is also processed because we felt it better as it is time consuming to cook real food. We also have to consider the effects of technology in global warming! oh my!
but you know.. there are positives also. Like with technology, computerization leads to accurate results. It paves also to medical advancement.
I wish we could go back and take life slow and appreciate nature more...

You are right. There are positive aspects of computerization. I am hoping that there is a way for them to heal the ozone layer of its current status. We cannot resist pizza, burgers, cakes, candies, and sodas. During the primitive times, people were used to a way wherein they were the ones hunting food and there were no microwave ovens and chemicals before. They live longer lives because they were more exposed to good environment. I guess it's different now with factories, toxic water, and harmful substances. It is hard for us to know, what is causing which. I hope that there is a way that the smart people could figure a way to solve our problems.

There have, as someone else pointed out, been many advances in medical fields and actually we have a longer life expectancy due to certain treatments and medications now being available.
But I have to agree, we have an overall lifestyle that has a negative effect on health. Whereas once we may have walked and kids played outside, we rely a lot more on cars and tv, video games etc in a lot of cases.
We also never stop working. I found it scary moving to America and finding out vacation time is a nonentity compared to Europe! While I admire the work ethic greatly, I question the health benefits of never having a life outside of working. For me thats the point of the work!
But I feel the real culprit is food. As a diabetic I am very aware and have learned much about what food does, or doesn't do to your body. We are what we eat in so many ways - and much of what we eat is so prepackaged, processed and preserved that its barely even food.
I would like to be a lot more educated than I am about what fruits and veg are in season, and to go back to living in tune with natural rhythms of nature - I think there HAS to be something in that - nature made it that way for a reason.

That so true and at the same time very cruel not to see as many kids playing on the grounds as there used to be in older generation. Infact, in many cases parents themselves prefer for their kids to stay indoors and buy them video games or computers at a very early age instead of encouraging them to go play in open fields with friends and take part in competitions.
The food as you were mentioning is definitely one of the main causes of what we are. In todays fast paced life, people find it difficult to spare time to cook a nice meal and savour it in peace. We would rather eat quick and unhealthy junk food in a haste to move on to the next thing.

Yes friend, today's life style is some what affecting our health. It is true because everyone are building a new buildings but who is laying a new trees. Everyone knows it is good for our future only but no one do this.Technology increased a lot but food quality decreased a lot. In the olden days everyone eat an healthy food but now it is not available also. Increase in the life style is good but it definitely affects our health.

hello rksbigblue,
I strongly agree with you. Because of our so advance technology, we are having also a high tech sickness like cancer and the likes. Indeed we are benefitting a lot because of all the comforts and what not but in the other way around, we suffered too.

I have to say that I do think today's lifestyle is affecting our health though not in a good way. As you pointed out, because of technological advancements like cars, computers, elevators, etc., we truly have become lazier, more vulnerable, and more complacent. We are used to things being easier and faster. If not, we usually get annoyed. For example, usually my friends and I don't even bother walking to some place, even if it is just 15-20 minutes by foot. We always have to drive. Another example would be our always using the elevator. Unlike in the past, our parents and grandparents always used the stairs. That is why I think the people today are more susceptible to diseases, etc, mainly due to lack of exercise brought about by these technological advancements.

Hi there..
Yes, i think today's lifestyle is more affecting our health.
Because of the busy time, people want everything as easy and the simple thing, such fast food or junk food.
Or because of the technological advances, so much to offer convenience, finally we rarely to have exercise for our body.
It proofs todays lifestyle is affecting our health.
Good Luck, cheer..!

The growth of different forms of scientific and technological stuff makes us more exposed to sedentary lifestyle. We tend to exercise less since things are easier for us now. Presence of different products in the market made us curious and we also tend to eat less healthier products like vegetables and fruits. Since fastfood dinners make things easier for us. We are never pressured to cook, then it makes us eat less of the organic type of food. Sooner or later the symptoms will affect our current health. When we stick to that type of routine of eating foods that are harmful to us and the sedentary lifestyle, it makes us prone to ill health like heart disease and the like. I myself have been used to such lifestyle and it's so hard for me to adhere to the lifestyle that is imposed by my doctor.

The living style of the human beings in present time is a lot more complecated than the older one. Now our life style does have some effect on our health. Simple example of pollution we can take. With the advancements in science, new machines were designed. We are using cars today. The smoke coming out of it are injurious for us. Smoking seems to be a fashion in today's lifestyle. Everybody knows that it has adverse effects on our body nand health but we do it.Its just like killing ourselves knowingly. So what can we say ourselves... We are smart or we are fools????

I really think that this is true! Technology is taking over more and more and things are becoming that much easier, far more convenient as it were! I guess people don't exercise as much as they remain glued to their computer screens! Despite the modern world I do try and keep active! I cycle on a regular basis and I like to spend time on my pc but this doesn't take over my life! Andrew
