Dear friend there are loads and loads of sites that offer you for your articles. www.triond.com and www.associatedcontent.com. these are the few which i know and they have paid the members. Hope so this works out for you better.

So you want to write? That's great! Give yourself a linkedin profile, It's worth a try. Though I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket, so to speak. Try many profile and resume sites, not just one. Monster is a good start if you want to upload your resume and search for positions. But don't just post your resume and leave it to that. Take actions that will get you recognized. Start writing for smaller online companies like Triond or your local news paper, that way you have some published content. If you like it and think it will work, put it in your portfolio.
Hope this helps you a bit. :)

I plan to, my idea is to create a "link wheel" where people can easily find my site and hire me.

You know linkedin is a big community for business online and offline too so it cna be a good idea as well..may be as regards freelance writing there are also many sites that can pay you for your contents or writing article as well...somehing like triond, helium or even associated content may be this last one you can subscribe only if you are from us...but the other 2 normally accept many people coming from different countries around the world!!

A Linked-in profile can have its benefits: instant connection with the greater job world, easy-to-use interface. But I believe if you really want to sell yourself as a writer then an online porfolio, in any form, would serve you well.
For example, you could create a free blog at http://www.wordpress.com. It doesn't matter much on what you will be writing about but it should showcase your best writing.
You could also take a look at http://www.associatedcontent.com which was mentioned earlier. Aside from being a no-frills way of putting your writing online, you could also earn from these writing samples. Being paid for having a writing portfolio is something right?
