I have to present and explain a project tonight in my class. First off, the project was just so easy that I really don't know what there is to explain, the instructions are already in the book, so to me, thats all that needs to be explained. Putting all of that aside, the main reason that I am sweating over this is that I hate speaking in front of people :( How do you feel about speaking in front of your class?

Hi spicysweetie21 I feel the same with you. In my highschool, although I've prepared myself, but still I'm sweating, nervous, wanna take a pee and get a stomach ache. And the worst is, I will shaking in front of the class! But I can keep my smile and look directly at everybody around the class directly to their eyes. I guess this is what save my score for presentation! Now I'm in my first semester in Communication and almost all the tasks ask me to do presenting in front of the class! I hope I can do it great and because it's my daily task, hope I can feel more familiar with this public speaking Let's try together! I have read some books that say we need to prepare and after that believe in yourself or just pretend there's nobody inside the class,,but still, that method not really works on me!

You need not to fear anything.Since your presention is easy enough for everyone, you can make it more intersting, adding some jokes between slides, making some similitudes in order to explain your projcet in another way...Pratice and pratice, only pratice can make you feel less nervous.Remember, pratice makes perfect. Trust yourself and trust your audiences, they will clap their hands and give appreciation to you. Is it the first time you stand in front of your class?Yes,no matter I have said to you,you still feel afraid. But next time, you will find you won't. Happy mylotting. beeduzhe

Most people feel nervous about speaking in front of an audience, but it does get easier with practice. The only advice I can offer is to prepare well in advance - make sure you have planned what you are going to say and, even if you can't memorize it all, make sure that you have a good idea of what you want to say and in what order you're going to present it. If possible, practice in front of a mirror or a small group of sympathetic friends beforehand. And just remember it will all be over in minutes. Good luck!

When i was in high-school, I've got a real trouble presenting a report because i was too shy and i wasn't really good with speaking in-front of the class that i get humiliated. but it changed in high-school as i was good with presenting with my topics in the class, but there are irritating times when some of my classmates would laughed at me....

When i was a student i was extremely shy and lack of confidence. I would be sweating too speaking in front of class . I was very nervous and my voice was always trembling . To be frank it's no good to be behaving like this . We are all equal and should be more confident. I lost a lot of good opportunities just because of my shyness. Therefore i really wish you can overcome it and are confident enough to speak well in front of your class.

Presenting something in front of a class can be horrifying to some (i envy those who aren't afraid). When i was in high school, every time i do report i feel like peeing all over. Stuttering and shaking of knees are also part of the feeling. I guess those can be felt by anyone, it all depends on how we handle it. It all changed during my college days. As i was getting a lot of reports (presentation), meaning exposure, the negative things i felt before suddenly faded. I started to gain more confidence. Just think of the people as your friends and practice in front of the mirror before the event, it can help you out in dealing shyness and low self esteem.

It's been years since I was a student, but I was a painfully shy person as a kid and hated to be up front in class with any kind of presentation or reading one of my papers. Believe it or not, as shy as I was, it wasn't until the end of high school that for some daft reason I became interested in acting and was to be my college major...so here I was now performing on stage in front of hundreds of people and it gave me confidence...I actually became a real "ham" after awhile and loved being in front of a lot of people like that--maybe you should take acting classes? It might boost your confidence

I have stage fright as well. When I was a student am so nervous too in facing my clssmates but I learned later that as long as you have the knowledge of the project you have to present, you don't have to worry. Just think you're the only one who has the knowledge about it concentrate with the subject, look at the audience once in a while and answer questions at the open forums and after a while, you made it. The next time you come to present a project you're already at ease.

I used to have a real problem with it before. And when I get nervous it's always the same: I happen to be very nervous in the couple of hours that come before the presentation or the event that's going to happen and, once I step in the place, it all goes away and I can perform what I'm meant to without problems, and pretty calm actually. The secret is to forget you're talking to a bunch of people. Think you're talking to a few friends of yours - for that's what they are, afterall. If you have problems about being nervous, try to look at the very end of the classroom. Attention not to avoid looking in the eyes of some people. The public feeling your "presence" is quite important for evaluation matters. But whenever you feel you can, look at the end of the classroom, still looking at some people. But that varies from person to person, actually. But trying those hints may help sometimes. Good luck!
