What is the difference of the two? who is dangerous in terms of payload?

malware means that there is something in your pc that can harm your system it may be a virus or something else. virus is included in the malware it is one of a kind of malware. virus is more dangerous, malware detects the even the small files that may or may not harm your system but virus will definitely harm your system that's for sure. so aowals use a better antivirus software which detects all your malware content and heal them. happy mylotting :)

so it means virus and malware are related. First I thought malware only runs from a browser and virus is from physical pc to pc like spreading from usb or floppy drive whereas malware acts within a browser

Malware is the term used for all things that are harmful to your computer including viruses. Viruses include stuff like Trojans and other computer code but malware is a general term which includes Viruses, Worms, Dialers, Spyware, Adware, Keyloggers and any other programs or device executed without the owner of the computer's will to do "malicious" stuff (hence, malware) like sending your credit card information to someone or dialing certain numbers or even installing browser cookies, anything really...
