You're not being stupid as long as it's a reasonable amount of overtime. If you're being told you must do overtime so frequently that it's interferring with your life outside of work, then your being fine with the overtime is kind of stupid in my opinion. There must be a balance. I like doing overtime sometimes, because it pays more, but I'm not willing to do overtime to the point that I can't do anything else outside of work.

In most cases, yes. There are definitely some circumstances when I think it's reasonable for the employer to require people to do overtime, but those would be infrequent sort of emergency type situations. Stuff like that should truly interfere with someone's life outside work too much. Most of the time though, overtime should be offered to the employees and they can choose whether or not to take advantage of it.

Umm, overtime basically means time and a half pay. If you're not being paid, then it isn't overtime. It's just you doing extra work because you feel like it and you want to impress your boss.

you're not. u are being dependable and responsible ... in a word, an employee worth keeping.
overtime work is done because of the urgent nature of work. it does not give me problem being asked to do overtime work because it is urgent and important. i would even be thankful i am given that responsibility ... it means they trust that i could deliver better than the next employee.
