Political self Sacrifice; one gives-up Presidential ambition..for a colleague

I just watch the news tonight in our local news, It seems that one of our Philippine Presidentiables Mar Roxas has announce his stepping down towards the Presidential Race, and finally sending his support to his colleague senator Noynoy Aquino, in which i remember still has trouble deciding whether he would run for the President or not. Senator Mar Roxas - He is the son of former Senator Gerry Roxas, and the grandson of former President Manuel Roxas. Sen. Noynoy or Benigno S. Aquino III,- The only son of Benigno Aquino, Jr., a Senator imprisoned who was assasinated upon his arrival at the airport back in 1980's and Noynoy's Mom, Corazon Aquino, who served as President from 1986 to 1992, died of colon cancer just this august 2009. Both have LEGACY from their popular parents and grand parents but it just happened to believe that one of them sacrifice their candidacy in favor of the other...who is more favorable to the public.. Well, he wasn't the first one, A priest turned governor also sacrifice his candidacy for this Sen. Aquino.... In my time-line this never happened before....i don't know about the old generation.

this never had ever happened before and just now... many things have changed and they are both a very good politicians and senators of our times. but we really dont know what is going on between the two and their liberal party. and i can see how their friendship also takes part on it. but maybe because so many Filipinos have sign for Sen Noynoy to run for presidency even if he has second thoughts about it but maybe he takes it and even Sen Mar take the peoples side about this things. though many people are disappointed as well that Sen Mar steps down on this presidential race to support his colleague, friend and a fellow senator Sen Noynoy Aquino, i know he meant well and good for everybody else. i cannot give comments more because i too have so manythings still couding my mind of the whys, whats and how... but i hope this will become a good opportunity for them both to be well in leading our country men!!! jhelai

Some one already made this discussion and it seemed that there's a lot of doubts from our co-mylotters about this, for them it seems there's a suspense play on these and Mar Roxas is merely sneaking to leave just to further avoid embarrassment as if he's really doing a sacrifice..hey, i didn't know you have a fiance.. have a great day my friend..

oh wow!!! i just call him fiance... lol! though he still is not... too bad... anyways, i really still dont know about MAr and Noynoy but i just hope that we could have a good president next year. but as what i can tell, it always comes out that the Filipino people always tries to make something out from them. jhelai

That was very nice of the one to do for the other. I am not really familiar with your country's politics but, is there some type of Vice President position? It's too bad the political leaders of the US don't know about political sacrifice for the better of the people. Thanks for the great discussion maybe it will catch on here in the states.

Despite of this so-called sacrifice, some still doubt about it, for some it's merely for others to prevent embarrassment. i believe there are some politicians had shown some self-sacrifices too like Opponents in the Presidential Race Con siding after the results but in here, some candidates will protest and refuse to accept defeat...
