My husband and I went to the grocery this morning. It took us more than 30 minutes to shop for the things we need. When we were about to pay for our groceries, the cashier lady asked for my membership card (SM Advantage) so I give it to her. She said the it is already expired. I was shocked because I was not aware that it expired today. Anyway, to cut it short, we were not able to get the bonus points from the groceries we bought today. When we got home, my cousin-in-law told me that there is a mail delivery for me. When I saw it, it is my renewed membership card. How about you guys? Do you have a membership card that you use?

i do have loyalty membership card of SM advantage. i have not used it. when i was buying lots of clothes and items on SM i did not buy the card. when i decided to buy the card i was not any more buying a lot of thing on SM. really weird. but the reason i don't buy shirts any more on SM is i have learned where to buy cheap brand new clothing with the same quality as those i buy from SM. so in a way i still save a lot. i have only the temporary card i have not claimed my permanent card. but i think i will just use that when i buy groceries on SM.

I have two loyalty cards. One of them is for the Jay C grocery store and the other one is for CVS. I think alot of stores jack their prices up and then give you a discount when you use the cards.

Yes, I have several. Every little bit helps, as they say. I can never understand why people don't want to take advantage of these schemes when you are essentially getting something for nothing - as long as you don't pay over the odds for something just so that you can collect bonus points, of course.

I do not have any kind of loyalty cards. For one thing they are difficult to keep track of and second, I feel that the rewards you get at certain point are all outcome of a marketing strategy. They usually give air miles for every benchmark you acheive in points. The bad thing about it is that you cannot fly anywhere with so little airmiles. You need to spend a lot to collect a lot of airmiles and that too within a year. Its usually not carried forward to the next year. They simply get lapsed. So whats the point of having a reward which you can't utilise at your own will. I used to have a loyalty card of a grocery store but then after this episode I totally lost interest in them. Another bad thing about one of the other reward is that they give you discount coupons on a certain brand or category of product. There are high chances that you may not even use those products. But if otherwise, you tend to spend even more, just eyewashed by the discount offer. In the end its the store which earns a lot of money but you end up losing. I would rather prefer spending my money at my will and buy the products that I prefer and not to worry about the marketing strategy behind it.

I have a few, loyalty cards, from some super markets as well as from textiles stores. The same thing once happened to me once, when the sales girl told me that the card had expired. I told her in that case, I not buying the dresses, and she can take it back. Immediately the supervisor, came over and he gave me a temprory card, and instead of the usual 5% discount, I got a 10% on that day. The supervisor had given me a 5 star card instead of a 3 star one, so I got a 10% discount.
