this movie stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett star in this fable about a man who ages in reverse.
PLOT: "I was born under unusual circumstances." And so begins "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man's life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond, "Benjamin Button," is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time. Personally I didn't find it that great and put the blame on the inordinate amount of hype which it garnered. Yes the special effects are impressive and the acting isn't bad but I found the storyline to be really disappointing. Once you get over the initial novelty of watching a man live his life in reverse there really isn't that much special about the movie and those events which happen in his life are not that spectacular.
Now if it hadn't had a lot of people jumping on the band wagon and pronouncing it as the greatest movie ever, leading to high expectations, I may have enjoyed it more but it certainly did not in my opinion warrant all the praise that it received.

I have to say I didn't like this all that much. Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable enough, but I think it was hyped up too much. People kept saying that it was the best thing since sliced bread and so when I saw it my high expectations for it were dashed. I thought it dragged a bit in the middle and could have done with being about 20 minutes shorter. Perhaps it would have been better if it hadn't so obviously been made with the goal of winning Oscars - then they might have cut out some of the unnecessary arty stuff and stuck to telling the story.
