I always tell my family to check their pockets before placing their dirty clothes in the laundry basket. Warning! Any cash I find I keep! When it started warming up outside, my husband threw one of his winter jackets in the basket. I felt around some of the pockets. The jacket had too many pockets on the outside and inside. Well, when I went down to collect clothes from dryer, I found a cell phone battery and then the rest of the phone!!! OOOPPS! Have you washed anything you shouldn't have? My older aunt used to accidently wash her false teeth. She used to place them in her housecoat pocket and forget to take them out before washing her clothes.

Oh no! Pens can get messy! I do forget to check the pockets before I throw in the washing machine, that is why I tell my family to check before they throw in the laundry basket. I have found quite a bit of money, so maybe I should stop reminding them. And it's nice and clean! LOL! Good luck with your laundry and thanks for the post!

Hi realan!
Before I used to dump clothes directly in our washing machine without checking the pockets. But when my husband begun to scold me as his wallet was inside one of his soiled jeans that I've washed I started to be very cautious before dumping clothes inside the tub. Everything was ruined, cards, pictures, money and the wallet itself as our washing machine is fully automatic, it will only stop when clothes are ready to be hanged. Good Day!

I make it a habit to check pockets before putting them in laundry basket. It's also to avoid cash getting wet. But I've noticed some of my family members don't do that. Instead they end up complaining that they lost their money. I guess, they learn from their mistakes.

of course i would. I always do that everytime i attempt to wash my dirty clothes since i have a bad experience when washing my dirty clothes along with my money there :((
So i agree with your policy to your family :)

hello realan,
I think it's already in my system to check the pockets of my pants and jackets before putting them in the laundry. But our children are not. Good thing it's only money that is/are in their pocket and not electronic gadgets.

I really really hate it when I leave a pen in one of my jean or shirt pocket. The ink from the pen gets all over the clothes I'm watching and it does not come off. I've ruined a lot of light colored shirts and pants because of this. After a few times I learned to check all the clothes before washing them.

i forget to check the pockets beofre putting dirty clothers in laundry basket sometimes and then those things on the pocket like money or tissues would be wetted after that washing. i do not have manner to put things on my pocket before but my girlfriend did. so i was affected by her manner and do this sometimes myself also.

LUCKY YOU!....I try checking the pockets before I throw my load in, but I can't say I always remember. Lucky for me, my boyfriend tells me he has checked his pockets, before he throws them into the laundry hamper and during wash week, CHA-CHING! I come up around $5 more! YaaaY LOL

This is what I am doing right now, because i noticed that i have been missing a few Bahts every time i give my laundry to the lady who wash my clothes in the apartment where i live. One time, when i was about to give my laundry, i checked my pants pocket if i have left something, only to find out that i have 2,000 Baht resting there. Since that event, i always check my pockets. It's good to check because from time to time, I always get a small amount that can add up over time. I put it in my piggy bank hehe

Oh I do this a lot, the worst is leaving tissues in the pockets. That really ruins your clothes or if you manage to get all the peices of sludgy tissue off, you are forever finding little bits of tissue all over the place.

I also use applying this thing as my habit. When i was a child, i always leave some things in my pocket when i throw my dirty clothes to laundry basket. And my mother always found those things almost everyday when she washed my clothes. Usually my leave my money in my pocket. Once upon a time, when i was travelling to other city, i accidentally leaved my ATM card in my pocket. Fortunatelly the laundry staff is a honest girl, and then she gave me back my ATM card. This was my lesson to checking my pocket carefully everytime i want to throw my dirty clothes into laundry basket. If that day i lost the ATM card, i can't imagine how could my life at that time in other city without any money because that was my only one ATM card at that time. Good luck and have a nice day. Happy mylotting.
