"DETROIT – The Cash for Clunkers program boosted sales at Ford, Toyota and Honda in August as consumers snapped up their fuel-efficient offerings, but rivals Chrysler Group LLC and General Motors Co. withstood another month of falling sales." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090901/ap_on_bi_ge/us_auto_sales It seems the market is responding to Obama's Marxism. The car companies Unconstitutionally seized by The Central Committee were the only ones who saw decreases in sales. Yet another dismal failure for the Obama administration. No wonder Obama and his Obamabots only respect force, when given choices, we don't choose his losing farces. Now that the dealers have put millions taking in the "clunkers" will Congress finally catch up with their "cash" side of it?

I will never EVER buy a car from Obama Motors. Millions feel the same way. I want them to FAIL. Let's not talk about the small independent repair shops that will lose tons of business when their customers buy new cars. The POOR people who will have fewer and more costly used cars. Next they will want to bulldoze my house and give me money to buy a new one!

Every now and then something like that does happen, it's a shame.

I cannot drive, but I would rather be in a car that can survive an accident, not one that would crumble to pieces and me along with it. When people buy a Toyota, they expect that they have to be careful drivers so they do not get squashed. And usually they are those who are single person drivers. Now Honda makes good cars and they look as if they can hold four or more people and some six or eight. So there is a choice, a Toyota for the one, two to four smaller sized people and Honda for the large people. I bet the ObamaMotor cars are lucky to hold just four and them very skinny people. Who wants a car like that? When someone buys a Chrysler, they expect to make it out, not get folded like an accordian. And then there are those who want to make up their own minds and not be forced to buy a car recommended by Obama.

I remember once I was in the car with a friend and we got rammed from behind by a Chrysler. The front of that car really did fold like an accordion and the driver's legs were stuck. My friend's car, a Saab 900, had a dent in the rear bumper. From a distance you wouldn't even know it had been hit. That was BEFORE Obama took over. God only knows how bad Chrysler and GM will get being run by someone who knows nothing about the automotive industry.

Sounds like at least part of it can be attributed to poor timing. The article says, "Going into August, five of Chrysler's most efficient vehicles were already at low inventory levels." It isn't clear (and probably isn't so) that the lower sales were due to lower inventories. It must be very frustrating for them (Obamabots) to see failure like this... which is probably why they refuse to see it. Will Congress finally catch up with their side of it? I don't know. Maybe they're just waiting for the press to print more money.

I'm sure the Obamabots are going into spasms trying to keep up with excuses for Obama's failures.

Maybe we the taxpayers could get cash for the biggest CLUNKER in Washington - Mr. Obama. LOL

Well I drive a Chrysler product and love it but I bought it in June so it doesn't qualify as a clunker. I think the motor groups need to start yelling loud and clear for their cash. Maybe Obama can designate some of the stimulus money to get a couple of new printers for the treasury to print faster. LOL

ParaTed, The only thing this albatros did was hurt the entire automobile industry. It came at a time when the car companies usuall have their year-end clearances anyway and the used car dealers usually get a major influx of vehicles but this time we are going tyo see a glut of used parts which will drive prices down for the salvage yards. No used cars, low used parts prices and when the smoke clears, in a couple years the government will either have to bail them out again or let them fail because they haven't learned a thing! I for one will never EVER buy from Government Motors OR Chrysler. I feel I have paid for two or three vehicles and don't get to drive them!

The part I like the most is about how this cash for clunkers program would get all of these gas guzzlers of the road, yet one of Fords best sellers was the F-150. So I guess American let Washington D.C and Detroit what they thought of them using our money.

Well these people didn't want another clunker, especially one that might not have any warranty backing them in a few years. Obama Motor Cars and Chrysler will probably end up like other great government run auto companies, Skoda, Yugo, and Lada. Boy did those go well for their respective countries.

I do not know about the clunkers for exchange programme until I read the news lately. In my country, Malaysia, we also have such a scheme. Here, if you have a junk, you can get a discount of RM5,000, if you trade it in for a new car. I think it was a partial success as the car companies wanted these trade in cars to be in working condition. Moreover the banks took advantage of this scheme by increasing the interest rates for car loans to maximize profits from the scheme.
