If you saw someone hitch hiking would you stop to help them?

I am the kind of person that is very cautious about people I don't know. I don't trust anyone I do not know. I would have say I would not stop for a hitch hiker. It is very dangerous. The hitch hiker could be a killer for all you know or even worse. It's not safe to pick up people you do not even know. I know they could be a very inocent person but there is always a reason why they are running away. No matter what the reason I would just drive on by. I have heard of hitch jokers killin and robbing people and other thing I will not mention. I would not help or pick up a hitch hiker.

I used to hitch-hike a lot when I was young(er) and much poorer, but that was 30 -odd years ago and it's a different world now sad to say.

No. Being a petite female, that would be extremely risky and dangerous. It's nice to want to help out a stranger, but unfortunately, not everyone is as good-hearted as you may be.

I would never pick up a hitchhiker either. You never know if they can be trusted or not. I know alot of people hitchhike to rob people or kill them also. It is just too scary and noone can be trusted these days.

You know in some cultures it is perfectly acceptable to hitchhike and pick up strangers, but in North America I'd say "no way". It's different if you're living in a small town or somewhere where everyone knows everyone, but if you're living in a relatively large city, and North America you'd be crazy to pick one up. I value my personal safety above anything else. You don't know the stranger, and we've all heard of hitchhikers that have pulled a knife on the driver, robbed them, etc. You can never be too cautious and I think it's always better to err on the side of safety.

It is quite possible that you might see someone you know, if that was the case then I would probably stop and give them a lift but I would always ask where they were headed before they got in as then I would be able to think about where the place was compared to where I was going.

No, I wouldn't to many crazy and weirdos out there. I especially wouldn't after watching The Hitcher movies both the '86 & '07 ones. Although I would feel bad about it especially if it was really bad weather but I don't think I would stop to pick someone up.

Once upon a time I would have and did, but today there seems to be so many crazy people who seem to to do things that are of no reason, I think it is a risk to even stop and help someone these days which is very sad.

Noooo way would I ever pick up a hitchhiker. Too scary for me! Did you ever see the movie "The Hitcher" with Rutger Hauer? Not called the Hitchhiker, just called The Hitcher. It's older but it's sooo scary!!!! And a very good movie about a young couple who pick up this hitchhiker, and then it all begins...ewww, scary stuff but fun to watch.

I would have to agree with you on that. Why are these people hitch hiking. If they do not have a care. where did they come from. Take a bus or call a taxi. Better yet call a friend or 911 if you need help.I wouldn't lower my window to even have a conversation with them. If I see they need help in anyway I will call 911 for them. They could be faking it. I love my life too much for that. Happy lotting.
