Doesn't other's impression of you square with the facts?

All of us hope to leave good impression to others in human communication. But it seems that many things in our lives go by contrary. Sometimes, the imipression we leave to other is just contrary to what it actually is. so, why the impression doesn't square with the facts? Perhaps we cover up something intentionally or perhaps we have not found the true inner self. Have you ever been in such situation? If you have, what do you think is the basic cause?

This happens to me all the time. I leave the impression that I give a dang what people are saying to me when most of the time I am just being polite. Now don't get me wrong. When it comes to friends and family I am a good listener and I care. But the crap that MOST people talk about in everyday life just seems trivial and silly. I love mankind but for the most part I just don't like people. They get on my nerves and are often sooo annoying. So most people like me. They view me as a kind person and I am. I care about whether or not I hurt their feelings by not listening so I do a great job of appearing to be really interested.

I feel communication of our views is the main cause.Sometimes we may not be able to get our views across clearly and lucidly this creates difference in perception and others may have a different view of us than what we are trying to project.Sometimes this may be due to the fact that we are trying to project ourselves as what we really are not.At times this could be because the person in front isn't trying to understand us and what we are trying to put across. This happens rarely and if it does we should try to talk and clear the other person's opinion of us but if the other person is adamant there is no point in worrying ourselves and worrying unduly about it.
