I have had an allergy to Strawberries for as long as I can remember. I do know that I did like the taste of them especially with whip topping. My mother bought some from the store one day and we all had them for desert with some ice cream and whip topping. Which I gobbled up not knowing what would be in store for me later . I remember not long afterwards getting a rash on my face mostly under my jawline and feeling rather sick to me stomache the rash was itchy Also a few red blotches on my arm. Needless to say I didn't keep the strawberries down they came up shortly afterwards. I said to myself then...........Never again!! It just not worth it . I know of a couple of people who are allergic to Nuts there are lots of food allergies out there that people experience I would be intereted in knowing what your food allergies are and what reactions you had when you ate the food that causes your allergy.

Sesame seed is what I'm allergic to. I found this out by eating one of those chinese deserts covered in sesame seeds. My face was just red and then it started swelling. So I haven't have those deserts since then. The sesame seeds on burgers and what-not are ok since there's not a whole lot of then. I guess it's all in the moderation. If i eat a lot seeds - allergies galore.

Thankfully I'm not allergic to food right now, but they say that an allergy can pop up anytime. However, I am allergic to the sun, believe it or not. That's what the doctor told me. Whenever I go out in the hot sun, I feel really sick and I start itching and if I'm wearing costume jewellery, I've had it. I'll be red and itching. Now I don't wear any jewellery at all since I don't want to suffer.

Hi cherryd: No, I've never been hospitalized thankfully, but I think its the heat of the sun that affects me. I have been prescribed some steroid cremes and all that but I believe you cant just go on using that type of creme without causing some other damage. So I try to avoid the sun as much as possible and it has now come to a stage where I look forward to rain. I like going out in the rain and much prefer getting wet and being splashed and muddied more than getting burnt in the sun. Even psychologically I'm a much happier person when its gloomy and rainy although it was just the opposite before I had this problem

Hi Suesan
An ALlergy to the sun? I bet thats more common than some people may think it is. Although I don't know of anyone who has an allergy to the sun. Have you every had to be hospitalized for it or is it just something that gets to be annoying from time to time if your out in it to long? Also is it the UV rays?Or the Heat of the sun that give you the allergy?

Hi Lesnan
I have used to work with a girl who was allergic to Walnuts if she ate them she said her throat closes up and she can't breathe sort of like she is having a very bad asthma attack.I guess some food allergies can be very dangerous to people I would be interested in knowing exactly what is in a particular food that causes the allergy. I can eat any other berry but I can't eat Strawberries so there must be something in the strawberries that the other berries don't have in them .

My food allergies are strawberries, onion, and mushrooms. Every time I eat strawberries I end up looking like one with a rash all over my face, chest, and arms. When I eat onions I swell up and it feels like my throat is closing. When I eat mushrooms I have swelling in my lips, tongue, and my throat feels like it's going to swell up.
Some of these foods I developed an intolerance to after eating way to many of them in to short of a time period. Back when I was a teenager I developed the problem with the onions and strawberries. Sometimes I will eat a small amount of onion on a burger or drink a strawberry daiquiri but I still have to watch the amount or I will end up in the Emergency Room. I have always been allergic to mushrooms and don't even attempt to eat them because I know the results.

Hi Miller
We have the same allergy to Strawberries and your right about looking like a strawberry when the allergy takes effect. I did end up looking like one when I ate them. Te rash was very annoying I also got it on my neck. And I forgot to mention in my post earlier that I did end up in the hospital emergency room because I kept throwing up back in those days they just let it run its course they sent me home with some Calimine lotion for the itching. I am not allergic to onion or mushrooms and I'm glad because I love the taste of both of them:-)

My food allergy is bitterguard. Whenver i have i get irritation and other skin diseases. Acutually, it is best medicine for our health. Due to some iritation I felt it was a allergic one. Allergies might cause the health badly. Thats why when doctors prescibe some thing he ask you the alergic details.however, it is bad to have allergic in food.

I personally don't have any food allergies, but I know people that do. One of my friends could die if he was given any dairy. There was a time when his allergy went away, but then it came back because he wasn't having enough dairy.

Wow Boboguirtar1
Die from eating Dairy? Now that a lot worse than just being simply Lactose intolerant in fact that puts a whole new meaning to the allergy. I am not allergic to dairy as far as I know but I will say this when I have to much of it I do have sinus issues but it doesn't upset my stomach that I know of. Do you happen to know what it actually is about the dairy that makes it life threatining to your friend?

Hello Cherry. There is one food item I am allergic with, and that's coconut. Any thing to do with coconut, coconut milk, coconut jelly, cake with coconut, an so on. My blood pressure goes up within minutes, and I start getting dizzy. I have to be very careful with coconut. If I suspect there can be coconut in a food preparation, I have to check it first with the pwrson who prepared it, and confirm.

I´m glad to say I don´t have any food allergies. In fact, I don´t have any allergies at all, except a runny nose when the air is too foul in my city.
Food allergies can be quite dangerous. Be careful and take care!

Crab, lobster and squid are some of my food allergies, and my lips puff up if I get to eat too much of these types of fare. Good thing I'm not really that into crab, lobster, or squid, so it's no big loss for me. But if I was allergic to let's say chicken or pork, ugh, then anti-histamines will be a constant companion.

First of all I really don't have food allergies. I have a lot of friends with food allergies and the most common allergy is the allergy to chicken. I have seen many friend suffering allergic reaction. It's like they really have a hard time breathing and they go into pinkish in color. I really don;t like to see people suffer that way. It's so unpleasant to watch.
