I must say I prefer Microsoft for several reasons. The main reason is compatibility. There are many programs that function properly with Microsoft but are not available for Apple and the main one used in schools and etc. is Microsoft, so if you have to finish a project, there are countless computers available to you that the majority will work without a problem.

I don't have a lot of experience of apple/mac but I prefer microsoft/pc because I'm uesd to its. So for me, it's the convenience factor. For a good long while - not a lot of people like Macs. Now I think a lot of graphic artist and what-not uses Macs. I think their programs run better in Macs than in PCs.

Well thats completely true. compatability has hampered the sales of apple software far more than the quality. Mac software deliver fair performance but their incompatibility with PC's have caused people to chose other software (pc-comptible)despite of their high quality. The mantra is :
PEOPLE USE WINDOWS , BECAUSE EVERYBODY USES IT
