I have been thinking a lot about this recently, and various discussions I have been posting on have made me think more about it than I have for a long time...
I don't want to influence your thoughts on what friendship means... I am very interested to hear the views of others, other nationalities, ages, sexes, races... you name it....
If you want to know what I think it means... here is a poem I wrote about it... http://authspot.com/poetry/friends-125/

Hi dear!
Friendship mean a relationship which is anything but great. Friends are the second important persons in our life, after our family and it is our friends who can make or break us. I am blessed with some wonderful off line and on line friends and I value my friendship a lot.
I enjoyed reading your poem. Very well written.

In my opinions friendship is every important. It is a relationship of people. It is great. Whenever you feel sad friend is the dependence for you, and when you happy may share together with you. Of course ,if you made friends with somebody bad,the result maybe different. It should be so lucky for me that my friend is good to me.

Thank you for your comment.
I can understand the need to make sure the people you call friends are people you can trust, if you can't trust them then why should you call them friend?
I have had a good friend turn on me before and it isn't a nice feeling that's for sure - I am now a lot pickier over who I call friend!
Thank you again and I look forward to talking more with you.

well friendship for me is a person who is always there for us in bad and good times. in sickness and in health. your friends are part of our lives. they are our family. and that is how i see what my friends are to me. i value them like they are part of my own flesh and blood. though not all friends ended up together and even forever but still that is how i see it.
understanding, love, care that is always been the main ingredient of what we call as friends.

Friendship means a lot to me although i don't have many friends . Real friends trust each other and help each other. We can talk whatever we think to our friends and we can discuss any topics some of which we dare not talk to our parents. The importance of friendship is even equal to family . My friends help me a lot when i'm in trouble and i will try my best to help them too.

well, for me, is understanding and trust each other, help and support each other. .
but hey, I know, we humans can't truly understand each other, we are different from one another, but because of that, friendship and bonds take form, we are connected through it. .
but truthfully, true friend in friendship is rare huh? -_-
well, that's for my opinion and case. .

Hi Mistywood,
I live in the UK and my thoughts on a true friend oor what a friend should be like is that they should honest, thoughtful, kind, helpful, always there to support you through everything, to be dependable, to forgive, to accept you for whoever andd whatever you do and mainly to love you as a sister or brother..there is so much more as well that a friend should be like, and my best friend/soul sister is all of these things and more and in return I am the same to her. But I will read your poem am looking forward to it...

Friendship is withering everyday. Be happy who can have a real friend who will never leave you when you're in trouble. I don't believe in friendship, but good if you all do.
