Can someone clarify about ranking on myLot

I'm still not quite sure about this ranking thing although I do know that in order to get ranked you have to make 100 posts. Well, I completed my 100 posts just now and I have been ranked 9. Is that kind of Ok or what. I see a lot of 9 and 10 but I thought those were for myLotters who had received best responses and made postings in the thousands. Clarify for me please.

It all has to do with how people rate your posts and responses. If you get a high percent of + instead of - then you get a high rating. I guess I get more - than + because I have a 4. It is not exactly a perfect system, as anyone can give you a negative for whatever reason they decide, but I do think they have ways of making the - not count if someone is doing revenge ratings or excessive - ratings. I am not really sure, though.

When I reached my 100th postings I got a star with an 8 then it increases to 9 then today I find that it has dropped to 7. I don't think I have offended anyone in my postings. Could it be vengeful ratings? Well either way it doesn't affect your earnings, does it?

Thank you so much for responding to my query. Being still new, I was not sure how you got those stars. So its according to what the other myLotters rate? Thats good to know although I also don't understand why you have only 4 because you have been kind enough to advice me and I'll definitely give you a + rating.

The highest star is a blue 10 so starting off with red is fine.

They are determined by how many plusses you receivef or your posts. The more plusses the higher your star and they are directly related to earnings to.
As you can see not all the higher posters have reds and blues. In the past it was possible for users to 'bash' the stars by giving mnany negative ratings to certain users. That is no longer possible as the system has been altered. Giving negative ratings also affects your own star rating too as is explained in that link.

Example: someone thinks that I am too bossy/got too many posts/talk too much or whatever, then theycan decide to neg rate me everyday and they are happy whne my star drops (though theirs will too).
Oh yes I am absolutely happy that the system has been altered to stop this abuse. It is absolutely not fair that others should decide how much we earn. Star ratings affect earnings and some users are here to earn they daily bread or milk.

Thank you mysdianait. Its really kind of you to give me all that advice. But I dont understand what you meant by 'bash' the stars by giving many negatives. Do you give the negative ratings because you dont like the comments or is to keep the ratings down. If that's the case, don't you think its a good thing that the system has been altered. You are lucky you are starting off with a 9 as I started with a 3, which is really low. I just kept doing my best and didn't aruge or anything, and it finally came up to where it is now. You will find that your rating will fluctuate up and down as mine has. I don't really worry about it though as I know I am not doing anything wrong as other users like to give negatives for no rasonn. I always give positive ratings and fi the post isn't very long or a good quality, I don't rate it at all. I would rther not rate them than give them a negative. I do however give negatives to those that post referral links in the disucssion area. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Thanks rosekiss. All advice is very valuable to me so that I don't do anything wrong. I would hate giving anyone a negative rating unles he or she was insulting or really bad. I have still not come across any abusive comments and I hope I wont because in such a friendly forum why hurt anyones feelings at all. I love myLot and no matter what the rating is, I look forward to gathering more and more friends.

It is how people rate you and your post if you get higher + then the stars besides our photo will increase and if you get - then it will decrease.
