When you think of the main city of your country is it the capital or is there another city? Here in the United States, there are three cities that come to my mind, New York, Los Angeles, And then Washington D.C. in that order. New York is where the money is .Los Angeles is where the movies and entertainment are made, and d.C.is where the President lives. Is your capital the Main city of your country?

Hello Sarah. Ottawa is the Capital city of Canada. I live in Vancouver. For me, I think Vancouver is the most unique and beautiful city, on the west coast of the country with a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. May be, I am attached to the city, having lived here for some time.

So if I said I only had time to visit one Canadian city ,you would suggest Vancouver.Being a Flames fan ,it would be enemy territory so i guess I would sneak in during the off season and pray hockey doesn't come up,lol.

I have lived in Northern Virginia since I was 8 and I don't think of D.C.as The city that everyone should visit.

Unlike the US, Philippines is very small and so there's only one main city, Manila, and it is the capital. Well, it used to be Quezon City but Manila became more popular and it's where the presidential official residence is.
Interestingly though, some people from the cenral and southern Philippines would also consider the most popular city in their region like Cebu (central) and Davao in the south. They maybe but I'm from the north so what do you expect?

I live in Estonia and our capital is Tallinn. It is really our economical and political center, most of the industry is also situated here.

I live in the US as well. Maybe it's a proximity thing since I live right outside the capital, but when I think of the main cities in the US DC is the first on the list. Next is New York. I don't really ever give much thought to LA. That might just be a preference thing though. If I were to travel around the country, LA would be very, very low on my list of places to go. I'm more interested in places like Seattle, Chicago, Dallas... places that don't have a reputation like LA does for having a lot of fake superficial @ssholes living there.

Hello neighbor,I am in Northern Virginia and I still think of New York as the main city of the U.S.I guess if you aren't into American film ,L.A.would be a waste of time. Being a movie buff, it is a Mecca of sorts. But if a friend from outside the U.S. could only visit one city,I would suggest new York City.

Eh, I've never actually been to New York and I'm not in any terrible hurry to go. And I love American movies, I just don't like the reputation people in that industry and in that part of the country have for being fake, stuck up @ssholes so I don't have any interest in visiting that area.
I live in Northern Virginia as well, but I grew up over on the other side of the state where the biggest city is Roanoke and most of the area around Roanoke is mountains and somewhat rural. In a place like that, people are polite and friendly, but at the same time very open and real. It's not like the reputation New Yorkers have for being rude and it's not like the reputation LA has for being fake. Because of my distaste for those cities reputations, I'm not likely to answer with either of them when someone asks what the main city in this country is. If a friend from another country is planning to come to the US and asks what cities they should visit, I'm obviously going to say DC because it is the capital and because I want my friend to visit me. Next would probably be New York because of how frequently that city is the setting for movies and tv shows and because of the history there and the abundance of things to go do and see. But after that for me it would probably be Chicago, Indianapolis, Dallas, Seattle or I might suggest they choose someplace random and small like Roanoke or Spokane where they can get a less touristy experience of this country.

i always wondered why Toronto wasn't the capital city in Canada. Why would they pick Ottawa? And why did they pick Washington D C for the United States?

At first New York was the capital . But after the Revolutionary War,it was moved to D.C. by Washington himself. why?So the capital was closer to his home in Virginia. And it was in the middle of the then 13 States. At least this is the reason I was told.
