Heffalump Alert

If you are Asian or African you probably feel quite safe in the certain knowledge that all the elephants in the World hail from your continents. But that is no longer the case! Today I can reveal the hitherto unseen and highly secretive Privet Elephant of North Oxfordshire, England. For centuries man has tried to catch a glimpse of these rare beasts. But they have always managed to allude capture. I am not one to blow my own trumpet (pause for scornful laughter)............ but I can exclusively confirm that today I saw them, and I was not the only one. To prove this fact I attach the first ever photograph of this, the latest discovery of the elusive Elephantidae family. Ladies and Gentlemen. Exclusively for you I present - Privet Elephants! Do you have a rare animal lurking in your hedgerow?

I'd be ecstatic these days if I got to see a hedgerow itself, let alone any intricate shapes! lol. This is such a magnificent find Mr Pike, please find another one and push for a breeding program immediately! One of my life dreams is to see a real elephant that's been genetically engineered to resemble a hedgerow. I believe they're close.

When I was at college (in a previous existence...) & going on teaching practice, we used to pass a garden that had several assorted animals - giraffes (possibly called Nigel, I never got to find out), elephants, a hippo, a bear and one or two others. On the last morning we saw tyre marks across the lawn and they'd all been smashed to pieces. I dont know if it had been an accident, unprovoked vandalism or some sort or 'revenge'/jealousy thing. Nowadays, I am reliably informed that there are any number of rare animals (...and vegetables... and minerals) lurking under the beds at work.

How mindless and horrible to have all those lovely things smashed up like that. I find that kind of thing so senseless. Are your beds at work ones that people sleep in or ones that plants etc grow in? Both types might well lend themselves to wild animal habitation.

I can appreciate that. I am sure that there are some people that become anxious about so many things - even what's under the bed.

I admired the owners for their originality... the animals were like the ultimate garden gnomes & it was really sad to see them destroyed. The beds in question are hospital beds and we basically just have to reassure people with regard to what may be underneath them. (Of course, it is very sad but, like many things, we have to find some humour in the situation to be able to deal with it. I'd like to make it clear that I'm not poking fun.)

Are you sure you have a picture of a heffalump? I thought those were very camera shy. Did you know the Loch Ness monster is camera shy also? That is why there are so few photos.

Heffalump was just to draw you in. As you will see. They are clearly elephants. As for Nessie - well he's not an elephant so you'd not expect him to want a photo.

Cool! I've always admired people who can shape bushes and hedges into works of art. I would make a real mess of it. I'd like to see a dragon, though, I've never seen a bush cut like dragon.

Quite often we have a rare animal lurking in our hedgerows ... my husband taking a late night piddle! I've told him this practice has to stop - but he seems to think it's necessary to mark his territory. I'm thinking of putting out a trap.

Hahaha ... I must say, it often occurs to me that women don't find pleasure in the same things. I've yet to see a lady squatting over her vegie patch under the moonlight - so it must be a neanderthal, territorial thang ...

So cute! Alas, I have no privet, or Privet Elephants. In fact, without a hedgerow I have no rare animals lurking outside at all. They key word is 'outside'. I do have some elusive, gargantuan dust bunnies living behind my couch. Sometimes when the fan or air conditioner is on they peek out from their hiding place, but quickly dive for cover when they see some one looking.

Oh yes. I am familiar with Dust Bunnies. I try to get mine to take up residence in the vacuum - but they are awkward varmints!

This is one of the most exciting finds during my entire lifetime P1key! I have Always wanted to catch a glimpse of a Privet Elephant and look at you...You have not caught a glimpse of one but Two! AND was able to photograph them! You must have been so frightened of them as they do look quite ferocious don't they? Oh P1key I think you will probably go down in history for this discovery and photograph! And to think, I actually KNOW the man that made this discovery! It is certainly a Proud day for Me P1key as I am sure it was for you when you spotted them!!
