Seems like the older I get the more I remember different things my mother or grandmother taught me. I apply many of them in my daily life and also taught them to my Children. For example My Mother taught me how to clean, I mean really clean.
She used to say: "Do it right or not at all." Also How to be a strong woman, in all aspects.
One of the many things I learned from my My Grandmother, is the importance of faith. Along with the REINFORCEMENT of knowing how to clean LOL...A family obsession.
So it goes from my Grandmother to my mother to me and to my daughters...
Tell me what you have learned from your Mom or Grandma, along the way we can probably learn from each other:)

My great grandma told me while I was helping her to do dishes, not to put sharp knives in dishwater, I would get cut and that when I put knives in the drainer to put them handle facing up.....I always put the handle facing up, made sense to me that no one would get cut getting other things out of the drainer. The other day I was doing dishes and put knives in the dishwater and guess what? I got cut pretty good.....guess I'll heed her advice....my grandma asked what happened to my hand and she just looked at me and calmly told me the story my great grandma told me about knives in the dishwater and how she had cut her hand and had to go get stitches (the only time in her life)
So, I guess from now on, I'll be heeding that advice!

Hello mzz,
Oh my Goodness, My daughter got cut like that too. I always told my kids to put knifes handle up in the dishwasher ..but they did not listen and my girl got cut.
My Dad told me a few weeks ago not to ever put knifes in the dishwasher it will dull the blade, so I've been washing them by hand since then.
Happy mylotting.
sending healing energy to you :)

Hello a_mothertouch,
I think I have learn a lot from my mom, but not my grandmother. I hardly meet my grandmother although we stay not too far from each others. I just not so close to her.
For my mom, she teach me how to clean too! LOL. She is a person that likes all the thing in real clean, real hygiene. It is good to follow her way too. Bu for 1 thing I would not want to follow her, that is her too slow motion ! She can do the cleaning in so details until she gets all her things done in real slow! For example, she sometimes help me in cleaning my babies bottles. She uses the brush and brush here and there, taking so much time to just clean a few bottles! For me, I will clean it fast but of course must get the bottles clean enough too.

Hello vingyan:)
You know Our Parents Generation did things much more detailed than we do today.
In Germany, women have always did household chores in ways I sometimes shake my head to ..like Ironing, many women in Germany still iron EVERYTHING, From Towels to bed sheets to underwear, even handkerchiefs. When cleaning they take their time to get every detail until its right. So where is your Mom from?
Greetings to you and thank you for responding.

Yup...me too.....and I learned how to bake, cook, do laundry, iron, and tons of other things. My grandmother taught me to crochet....and my mom taught my girls....and I now am teaching my granddaughters....one is ten and she just went to town with it....the other is only four and she can chain but that's a good start!

Hi Jill,
Isn't it nice when The Children and Grand children want to learn something as cool as crocheting? My Daughters have learned from me and now my oldest daughter want to teach her oldest ( as soon as she's old enough lol) I also was taught by my Mom.
Have a great day :)

I have learned many things from my mother. The most important ones are the aspects of not giving up immediately and doing things on my own. .. Now that I am also a mother, I am applying what I have learned from my mother: from sewing to baking and many other things.

Hello dorisday :)
Is this your Name or do you really love Doris Day?
I Love her Movies by the way.
Not Giving up..I think is one of the most important things we can do.
To keep trying, is to build Strength, persistence and eventually be rewarded with success. Independence is also a asset especially as a Woman.
Mothers day should be every day ..what do you think?
Blessings 2 you.

From my mom, I learned to respect elders and young ones but respect to ourselves as well. As how would we expect others to respect us if we don't respect ourselves. Hello friend, a mother's touch once again.

Hello Bing,
How are YOU ?? Good to see you again.
Oh yes Respect..That and good manners, how blessed we are to have been taught these valuable traits. especially respecting Elders, it is so sad to see young people these days showing so much disrespect to the elderly..It makes one wonder what the parents have taught them.
Hugs!

Well I have never met any of my grandmothers because they passed away long before I was born, unfortunately :(. Anyways, I swear the saying is true, "Like Mother, Like Daughter". I swore I was never going to be like my mother, and yet here I am, spitting image of her! lol I didn't mean to be mean when I said I didn't want to be like her, it's just that she is super sensitive and sentimental at times and takes things to heart at the wrong times. WHICH IS HOW I AM! lol Not fair! lol She has taught me really good manners, respect in every way, patience, money doesn't bring happiness, and that honesty is always the best truth. I love and respect my mother for her ways, even though I used to say I never wanted to be that way myself lol.

what they have taught you are two very important guidelines in life.
We are truly blessed to have had such loving teachers.
And yes I sure do miss my Mom and grandma too.
