What the heck is this thing going on with the teachers being GIVEN things from the board of education?? What should I do for my president? HUH? This is creepy, this is wrong, and I don't think I need my daughter being told about what we need to do for our president. He's not holding up his end, we don't need to do anything for him. Yes, it's all over the news right now. Are you going to sit in the classroom or pull your kids out? I might!

Are the teachers required to wear brown shirts like hitler's youth army? Creepy isn't the word for it...it's criminal.

It's retarded. By the way, I'll make sure her teacher is not wearing a brown shirt. And I will stay off youtube that day. I do like youtube. But the same way I like tv and the internet in general. Only for things I deem entertaining. Which is not anything remotely political, nothing about Obama, nothing about news, etc etc. Yes, I know I started a thread in politics about news and obama but it's a rant, therefore it qualifies as okay. Rants are entertaining!

If enough parents have an issue and enough people are either taken out of the classroom or not sent to school that day, it will help. Also, there will be some kids who are simply told to ignore or disregard anything that is said, I think that works just as well as long as your child understands what that means. You can't force someone to listen or to process information. They might have to sit there but you can tune it out.

Remember this is the President who wanted a soldiers Oath to be to the President and not the Constitution. He had children learning songs of praise to him before the election.

When Prs. Bush was running for re-election, my youngest son (in 5th grade at the time) campaigned heavily for him at recess. ;~D

ParaTed....it's more sinister than that. I won't make the obvious comparison with another prominent leader in history...but all that we've talked about here on the lot...adds up. Kids should be learning about how government works...age appropriate. But they should NOT be led down the path to 'think' of one party or agenda as the best. That is indoctrination. I homeschooled for a few years...while my kids were little. We talked about the presidency in generic terms. We talked about the differing opinions and the merits of each. That is how you teach kids to THINK for themselves.

My kads are now done with primary school, I do have one in college now though. I almost wish she was still in high school though, she would SHRED this whole affair, though it would probably land her in the prinicpals office, lol. I tried to picture exactly what she would say, but the kid is so random in her wit one can expect anything, she has learned how to wield sarcasm and irony like a mace.

Colleges are notorious in their attempts to indoctrinate young adults to thee leftist agenda. I kind of wish I could b a fly on the wall in your daughter's college classes! She sounds awesome, and that probably is due to the fact that she has a great Dad.

It's a local community college and half her classes are online, so it isn't likely to be as indoctrinating as some other major universities. The irony is she is actually quite a liberal young lady, she just doesn't apply that for the most part to her political ideology. From the very beginning of the primaries, she looked at all the candidates in both parties and was absolutely horrified. She said, "dad" there better be some better choices when I am old enough to vote in the next elections. She thought Obama was, from day one almost, a complete phony, hillary clinton made her cringe, she did kinda like Bill Richards and the rest she said were just "blah". Of the republicans, she said McCain wasn't, Romney was "too hollywood", She thought Gulianai might be "sorta ok", "Ron Paul had the right Idea but didn't stand a chance" and the rest were all just "cookie cutter politicians".

I think that what you should do is to teach your daughter to evaluate what she's being told to do and make her own decisions. Throughout life we all are bombarded with information we either act on or ignore. Since school is a learning process, it's a good place for her to start forming her own values and making her own decisions. A child with a strong sense of self isn't going to let herself be swayed by the values of others. Irregardless of what your feelings are on the subject, she should be allowed to make her own decisions. Who knows? Maybe if we all helped the president things would get done the way we want them to.

I guess it all depends on what exactly you want to see get done. Theo nly thing I want to see my president do is abide by his constitutional responsabilities and maintian the propper role of the federal government. I "help" him do this by calling him out when he doesn't.

Well, the whole 'help your president' thing really has no place in schools. I don't really think it has a place anyway because that would have to mean he's actually helping us. Help me help you? Hmmmm. Besides, that's not what kids are supposed to be concerned about at all. They have other things to do than worry about politics, government, etc etc. I am grateful that my daughter is pretty feisty, she knows what she likes and what she doesn't, and she'll tell you. Not necessarily in a mean way though unless you threaten her. I simply don't want anybody trying to introduce politics and political ideas to her. That is something she doesn't need, and I am her mother, and I will prevent it as long as I can. By the time I can't prevent it any more, she will have learned to prevent it herself because she'll have learned it's nothing but rubbish.

I don't hace kids in shool any more so I don't have to worry about them but do worry about the kids still in school. I was listening to Glen Beck this morning and he has a call in and the lady got in touch with her school beard members and reminded them that they would be up for reelection. She got a call back and the school was not going to participate with this speech. So the way to get this stopped is to speak to their votes

I'm not completely filled in on this situation but I think if they are going to ban religion from schools b/c it's too controversy, then they should be banning politics as well. Kids are going to school to learn their lessons, not to join the political arena. This is why a lot of parents are homeschooling their kids. Okay, I only have one question now that 0bama has given his "Stay in School" speech to encourage kids to do the right thing...since we're putting politics in schools, we should put religion as well...Is he going to do an "Attend Church Regularly" speech at Easter as well? While I think it's great that he's encouraging kids to stay in school...I don't think he ought to be making speech's in the schools. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

That is an excellent idea. No religion, no politics. That would be even better to use as a blanket rule everywhere but you know somebody would have a fit lol.

If I had a child, he/she wouldn't go to school that day, period. Obama has no business being beamed into classrooms, school should not be politicized. It's bad enough kids nowadays are subjected to socialist propaganda day in and day out at school, they don't need this joke foisted on them as well. If Bush had done this, there would have been a big hue and cry.

I don't think that would have happened... as far as Bush. Bush didn't have this huge need to be recognized and worshipped lol.

I know some teachers here where I live who do not care for Obama....wonder how they're going to accomplish this with a straight face. I never did agree with the department of education developing the curriculum for kids all over the country. That's a government agency btw....back when Carter was in he began the process of 'federalizing our schools'. This is what I mean by saying it's not a brand new thing... and that it's been in the works for at least a generation.

Well, since I know better than to listen to any of it (in fact I try really hard not to even expose myself to much of it), I'm not in too much danger even if I watch it. I actually think that it's probably even more innocuous to a bunch of kids who don't know anything because it won't make any sense to them. I know if something doesn't make any sense and is even less interesting, I don't care, so perhaps it will be the same for the kids. I guess that is what we can hope for. I don't know a lot of politically aware or politically motivated kids. Most of the kids I know care more about making sure that EACH of them get TWO cookies because god forbid they find ONE of them got three. Suddenly the kid who had the extra cookie now has NO cookies!
