Do you fret over your misfortune that you are not what you could have been ?

Human expectations are unlimited. However we can not ( if some can that is a different matter ) get all them materialized. This failure is often attributed to 'fortune' that he/she/they are lucky and fortunate and hence have so much of wealth. But as we are not fortunate we are like this. We end up grumbling and fretting but hardly look into the flip side that it is more of "Nature" that we are what we are and less of fortune or luck. Lack of introspection and self realization throws us into nowhere. If at all we had counted on our own ability and strength we would need not complain against fortune and scheme life as per our desire. Now tell me which would you rely more on - fortune or your own skill? Please share. Rajib 03.09.09

I rely on God and my own skill. My duty is to utilise whatever skill I have, keep looking for opportunities and be content that I would get whatever God wants me to get. I have no complaints whatsoever and I thank God for all that I have.It is my duty to make efforts and whatever is the outcome is the fortune God has decided to give me.

I am all for making efforts Rajib and I know that GOD never gives luck to the person who does not do his karma..If you read through my first response once again carefully, you would realise that I have mentioned about utilizing my skill, looking for opportunities and my duty being to make efforts.I leave the outcome to God and not the efforts to God.I have also said that the God given results are my fortune.

Yes Kalav, I got that. May be I had read in haste. Yes one has to remain committed to what one believes for that is the only weapon to defend and feel secured. Thank you.

Hi kalav, I can see that everything you are leaving to God and his evaluation. i think this is not the way to prove yourself. Well as it is in the post that Nature has all the characteristic feature to help you stand on your own feet. now the question is if or not you would like to stand on your own. God never does anything concert. This is your hyperbolic expexctataion. You have to do the karma destined to you.

Hi Rajib, I no longer fret over what might have been, life is too short for such things. I still have a few things that I want to do and I will have to depend on my own skill if I am to suceed. Luck and fortune may sometimes play a part but most of us create our future by our actions today. Blessings.

Hi there, Actually I was focusing on people's conception on fortune and Nature. A confusion is there. well on your say I must say that you are wise enough to see the right from the wrong. And I too do not believe that there is any gain fretting over the split milk.

My luck is what I deserve. I feel, whatever 'misfortune' I have undergone, is but the consequences of my weak decisions. I am responsible for all the bad things in my life. And the bad things some times do amazing things! They help us realise our mistakes. More soon..

You are welcome to this discussion mimpi. That you never blamed your fortune and what you are today is the result of your own action is the beginning of a new dawn. the past, say was a bundle of weak decision. Now since there is no no looking back profit, better amend the present and shape the future. You seem to have a great potentiality and they are reflected in your writing and might be something went against the current that was on your side and now when you look back you see you are not the one you could have been. Thanks for the response.

Dear Rajib Great, you said the right expectation are always beyond imagination. I agree with you. But still I prefer that skill and sincerity are required but above all fortune required to ignition to flourish. This is my believe. Have a nice day Raju

Hi Raju, Nature includes your personal traits, skill, talent and all that are the major ingredient in molding your career. What we call luck or fortune lies amidst them and is no where else. you have rightly utilized the Nature and you are the maker of your own fortune. Thanks a lot for the response.

Hi krajibg, when the desire remains desire, there is pain and cursing the fortune. Own skills are good but not always fetching. :( Wallowing in self pity is what is bad. Fine - there is a setback, let me not waste rest of the life dwelling only on this. That is what should be the attitude. Eventually - hardly anybody will miss their goals if they keep such attitudes. And goals keep changing as well. So feeling bad about failure earlier on should not deter people from continuing to work hard.

Hi vandana, I guess you have not read my post between the line. This does not say all you have mentioned. What it says is that instead of fretting over your misfortune you should rather concentrate on the Nature given skills and talent. And you know talent never goes in vain.

Hi krijibg, I read, and re read the topic several times over. Maybe it is my comprehension skills that are at fault. Correct me if I am wrong - u wanted to say that instead of crying about bad luck, concentrate on god given gifts (talents). Am I right? And my remark was - even god given gifts (own skills) may not bring in fortune. And even that should not make a person dejected. Instead the person should plod on, and work hard. Eventually goals will be achieved. I dont agree with u that talent doesnt go in vain. Talent + hardwork + perseverence do not go in vain. Individually the three qualities may be wasted.

Yes Vandana you got me correct. I said or meant that talent does bring fortune. Yes it does. But mere talent would not serve the purpose it must be accompanied by karma, percevereance and commitment. These are the Natural things and one needs to apply them accordingly and eventually the result would be positive.

Hello my friend Thanks for sharing another wonderful post with us As for me I consider myself fortunate I have been blessed in more ways than one, sure I would love to have more, the beautiful home, fine car and all the rest of the material things that alot of people take for granted, but I have something money can't buy so in a sense I may be more wealthy than they would ever be, for that my friend I am truly fortunate there are so many misguided people who don't have a clue,I knew from childhood I had something others did not, over the years these things just enhanced and gave me a power like no other and this my friend is something that can not be bought. Thanks for sharing this my friend and reminding me just how blessed I am,

I rely on both Fortune then my own skills. There are many people who might have better skills then me, but it is my fortune that i am here.. and there are many chances that some people who have don't have better skills then me, are higher then me.. that is their fortune. There is famous saying "Right Person, Right Time, and Right place"

Hi there, What I feel is that fortune is an abstract idea woven out of the nature and the Nature contains all the ingredients like skill, talent, knack for doing this or that and so forth. Some people depend more on fortune which is basically within the Nature. Thanks for the response.

I believe we have control over what we become but we don't have the experience to make good decisions when we are young--nor do we listen to our elders who have made the same mistakes we will make! I'm not all that I wanted to be but it's my own fault, not the fault of fortune. However, without my mistakes I wouldn't be who I am so I wouldn't change a thing!

Hi there, I know the tempest that saw you and you stood there as a rock and now nothing to lament back. Time is sometime in such a twist that it pushes you to pass through the ordeal and when you come out you see the sky is clear or is about to get clear.

yes, they ceratinly are. I think when I was younger I did fret at times. I was young, totally on my own and I would get fretful. And I was of the mind set that the worst is going to happen. This never helped. At this time in my life I was without the experience to realize there was always tomorrow and I didn't believe in fate and Karma so things got ragged fast.

Hi celtic, now I am too a grown up individual and have learnt that mere fretting over the past mistake would lead you no where. better start things anew and apply your skill and talent and see how fortune chased you.

The kind of skills that a person possesses is still not a passport to ones success. I think we really depend on our fortune. A fortune which is sometimes misleading because it sometimes lead us to nowhere.

Hi, This is your version and all people are entitled to air their voice. What I feel is that if you know where you are good at and start seriously on that particular skill who says would not bring fortune. and you need to remember how your skills get paid in a particular socio economic milieu.

It would definitely be my skills (though there's not much, but it help me to survive) I don't think that fortune alone can take me far. Without skills and knowledge, it will go down the drain and left with nothing in the end. It's important to gain them all with my ability. Plus, it will makes me more proud that way as I earn it.

you have rely more on skill than fortune. for example, when you go to college, every gets a choice to specialize in a particular area of expertise. to acquire wealth, you have to know 2 things. first, like stated before is specialization. however you want to put it(be good at something). last is the knowledge of making money or business. lets take two scenarios i am bill gates. i have knowledge in computer science and very good at it. i know business but better my chances i hire an accountant to handle the business aspects. i find a way to make money, so selling software and become wealthy i am a geek. i have anyways got A's my entire life. i dont know business. i am a programmer. in both cases, they were fortunate but a geek is not wealthy simply because he doesnt understand business. you can know business but you must know how to use the knowledge to make a profit. also if you understand society, the only way you can become truly wealthy is entrepreneur. it is the quickest and most effective route.

Hi kb, well illustrated. But what I wanted to say is that instead of fretting over fortune if one works on his skill he would be more profited. Like Bill Gate he not only had knack how to make money he learnt how the world is going on. This capability to understand would lead you to have your fortune.

If I was to rely solely on my fortune I would not get very far! I believe in keeping my eyes open for signs and opportunities; this requires observation because so many openings can be missed because of inattention. I was brought up by parents who unfortunately have always and still do make me feel as though I am a complete disappointment to them. I don’t know why they are not pleased with me and the life I lead; they are just not and these days I see it as their problem, not mine. There are changes I would like to make and I know it is up to me and me only to put in the hard work required for significant life changes.
