What are your unique gifts?

We all have our own special gifts, but often we are afraid of sharing them. Perhaps, it's fear of criticism or it may be the thought that friends will feel that we think we're better than them. Probable we feel that our talents wouldn't be of any interest to others but the fact is everyone benefits when we share our talents, every gift lying dormant in our soul has the potential to fill a void in someone else's life. Our natural ability to soothe hurt, inspire compassion, bake, dance, knit, organize, sing, read aloud, make others laugh etc. can often be a boon to someone in need. By simply doing what we are good at and also love to do, we make a positive difference. We might say that it's letting our light shine, because our unique gifts demonstrates who we truly are. Do you agree?

Hi Pose,
Before I read your discussion I didn't believe that I had any unique gifts, but when you mentioned the compassion thing I started to wonder if perhaps I do after all!
From a personal standpoint I have normally cited my special brand of 'insanity' as my unique gift, when people asked me. It would be the thing mentioned because it helped me learn so much about myself, but recently it has developed slightly more evil tendencies and so it's status as a 'gift' is being reviewed
lol.
Being on-line a lot of the time though has shown me that when I come across the right sort of people I seem to be able to inspire happiness in them. It doesn't work with everyone, but if someone has been through tough experiences, and if they are alone then I can connect with them on a deep level and we seem to be able to help each other. I know at least 2 people I have done that with and though the number is small it makes me really proud because these are people who would otherwise, like me, have been alone.
So I think that is my unique gift, using my 'insanity' to help others as well/instead of myself
Lovely topic, it really made me think :)

Yes I do agree. Anyone that knows me here knows that my daughter and her two children are my main purpose in life and there just isn't anyone any better. My most unique gift was given to me by my daughter. She took her baby clothes and had a woman use these clothes to make me the most beautiful and well made quilt you have ever seen. The lady was a hotterite lady. I never got to meet her but man can she sew and the quilt is done to perfection. The way in which I was given this quilt was unique as well. My daughter said to come to her bedroom she had something there for me. I walked into her bedroom and there were my two grandchildren laying on her bed with this wonderful quilt covering them. They each held a big sign that read: Happy Birthday and below that were these words.
You will recognize these pieces as the clothes that kept our little bodies warm and now may these same clothes keep you warm Grandma.
I still choke up writing this and Yes I cryed at the time!!! This is my unique gift.

Listening to others, cheering people up, and being kind to people when no one else will are probably my biggest gifts. I'm kind to everyone, but for the people that others avoid because of their attitude, I modestly say I do have a gift of getting around their facade. I know there must be a reason for their prickly exterior, and I try to navigate around that and find the source of the problem.

Hi AmbiePam, That is an excellent gift, and so good to hear. To recognize that there is good in everyone, that behind even the toughest exterior is often a very frightened human being takes a very special person. Thank you for sharing this. Blessings my friend.

Gifts... that's a good topic... I love that last line... "We might say that its letting our light shine, because our unique gifts demonstrates who we truly are." But back to the subject... I write, I mean I truly write. I'm one of those guys who would rather sit down and write a poem or story or song than go outside and play sports. Just never been a big sports fan... But I've written many thing since I actually started writing in ninth grade. I've watched myself go form horrible to not so shabby, then from good to great. I've won the best writer award at my school. And to people reading this... I am not bragging I am stating facts... But all along the way I've found myself in so many things I've written. Maybe that's why that last line stuck out to me. Cause our gifts do truly demonstrate who we are. The person that we don't allow people to see sometimes. God Bless.

what you said is really true. many of us dont let out our special gifts to be known to others. This gift by god is just kept in the deep of the heart and goes to mud at last. if we really share that gift ll definitly benefit others and also benefit ourself.. I hve gift of sharing everything that is possible by me and you know god has always given double than what give to others.
