Did you hear about this story? In Georgia a 61 year old man approached a lady and her crying two year old child, telling the mother to shut that child up or I will.
Its not clear what the mother said if anything. She tried to calm the baby down. However, then the man grabbed the child and slapped her about 4 times saying see I told you I would shut her up. He was of course arrested and charged with Felony Crueity to a child. I don't know what is going on in this world when a person thinks they can hit a child that isn't even theirs. When I told my daughter and her husband they said that they would have beaten the guy down. What are your thoughts and your comments if any.

I know I just wonder what the mother said or did besides trying to quiet her child.
Thanks for responding.

me too i would freaked out and would wonder what the mother could say for what had happened. they should had interview of the mother and ask her comments about that incident and what are her thoughts and how she felt and she sort of punishment this man deserved.
i definitely think that the old man is sick and that he needs counseling and of course longer jail time.

I know he would never had been able to grab my baby from me. I don't really understand this mother. Maybe she was overwhelmed and truly upset and couldn't or is not the type to fight with anyone. He was a big guy from what I saw. Still in all I know I would have been in his face and he wouldn't have grabbed my baby.
Thanks for responding.

I am glad they arrested him and I am surprised that someone did not slap him around a bit. He will pay dearly for his stupid moment.

Me to and yes I don't understand how no one intervened in the mother's defense. I find that quite surprising. If I was there and overheard him speak to the mother like that I would have defended the mom for sure. Thank you for responding.

Wow that is pretty shocking. I'm wondering if the mother said something ignorant to him that made him go through with his threat. Not that I think that makes it right. I think it is horrible and shocking that he would slap a child like that especially one that wasn't his. I wonder if the guy didn't have something mentally wrong with him to set him off like that. I just can't imagine any sane person doing something like that.

I did not hear this story. It is shocking. If my child's mouth was bothering him, he would have regretted that move because I'd have just freaked on him. There are so many sick people in the world today. Sometimes I don't even turn on my tv even to watch the news because these sort of stories make me sick and they are in the news daily. I only occasionally pick up the newspaper anymore. I turn on the news one or two mornings a week. That is enough to keep me somewhat informed on the world news and avoid a lot of these sorts of horror stories.

I heard something about this, but I didn't really hear all the details. I'm glad that he got arrested and was charged with a felony, because what he did was totally uncalled for! I wouldn't slap my own child four times in the mouth, and I sure as heck would never let anyone else do it! I do not know what people are thinking these days, and I'm not entirely sure that I really want to know if it means that I would understand doing something like that to anyone let alone a 2 year old child!

I know people are just loosing their minds or something. Everyday there is another story concerning abuse to a child and its just hard to understand how people could hurt an innocent child. Thanks for responding.

You know, when I first heard about this, I wondered what the mother did to stop him. I'm not saying that I thought she was to blame, but I'm thinking that if someone came up and and threatened my child I would have gotten in their face. The more I thought about it, though, she might have been trying to protect her child the best way she could by trying to avoid a conflict. He sounds like he was crazy, and we don't know his size versus hers or if she has any physical problems, etc. Plus, you hear about people shooting and stabbing people all the time, so she probably thought that it was safer to try to avoid a conflict. Unfortunately, her efforts didn't work.

People are so insensitive to people with children anymore. I'm sorry but I feel as a mother it should be alright for me to take my child into the store and not have to worry if they happen to cry. It's all a part of being a parent. Children are going to cry at some point or another. The man could have simply left the store or the area of the store the mother was in. He had no right to lay a hand on the child.
I would almost understand his frustration had the child been 10 or 11, but at two years old children get cranky, they cry. That's their way of dealing with stressful situations. Someone should have slapped him down. If it had been my child I probably would have.

I know I would have been in his face and he would never had been able to grab my child let alone slap her. I probably would have ended up in jail but anything for my child or grandchild. Thanks for responding.

I know what your saying. Its like this world has gone mad! It's out of control. The weird thing is you never know when you can end up being involved in something while your minding your own business. Thanks for responding and I hope you are feeling good.

I think that the man is being impatient with the crying child.I admit I am also irritated and gets impatient with a crying child,BUT I will not hurt or slap a child just to get him/her to shut up.I would rather walk away.it is not the mother's fault or the child's.as an older, mature person, you should be the one to give way.it is much easier if the man just walked away.

Yes he was irritated but and he should have been the one to walk away. How do you strike a child that isn't your child. Thanks for responding.

That is so wrong on so many levels. If he didn't want to hear the baby crying, he could've left the store. I can't believe someone would have the gall to do that. I hope he is found guilty and spends a good amount of time in jail. Is the baby ok? If anyone came up to me and said that or tried to do something, I would beat the guy down.

So many weird and out of this world people we have right now. People are becoming more and more dangerous and I wonder what goes to their mind from time to time. I haven't heard the story and thanks for sharing it here. I cannot imagine there are people who can do things like that--2 year old girl, slapped by an old man???. Just like your children, if that happens to me, i surely beat the guy down myself. Don't care if they are older or whatever..Give me the best possible reason to hit my child and i'll allow you to do so.

You can say that again. This world is getting so violent more and more each day. It is quite scary. When a mother can't go into a store afraid that someone is going to hit their child because he or she is crying is outragious. Thank you for responding.

Right. Mothers' need to give extra attention to their kids while outside their house, and especially in a crowded place because some people might be annoyed to a crying child and might slap it. I wonder what makes them do that? And the fact is, it's just a child who knows nothing more than crying and eating.

I would have been the one put in jail...he, on the other hand would have been in the morgue!! I have 5 children and luckily have never had to be approached about their behavior in a store, but have come across parents who need a comment or two regarding their childrens behavior, but as far as laying my hands on someone elses child...never never never!!!

That was funny you in jail and he would be in the morgue. I know what you mean its just so wrong for someone to grab and slap a 2 year old child that is not theirs. I wouldn't even condone the parents of a two year old to grab and slap in the face. A stranger is ridiulous.

I went looking for stories on this, and saw a mugshot of the Guy-I reckon if He'd only LOOKED at the kid,She'd be screaming louder! Seems he Lives alone..I was wondering, though, that the Mother wasn't mentioned as having had a few whacks at him in Defence of Her little Girl..If poking someone counts as Assault, slapping MY kid in a Supermarket would bring on "Cart Rage"! Can't believe that after he made the threat,She let him close enough to do it!

I can't believe anyone would walk up to someone else and tell them to shut their child up or they will slap them. If someone walked up at me and told me that I don't think they would have the chance to slap my baby. With just the threat and we would have a big problem because I would be cusing a lot louder than the baby crying. I would want him to attempt to slap me. It takes a big person to hit a child.

I know what you mean. I don't know what the mother did or how she allowed him to grab the baby in the first place let alone let him hit the child. I can't believe no one intervened to help the mother. He has to have mental issues thats all I can think. Anyone else would just walk away if the crying was brothering them.
Thanks for responding.

I can only hope that something like that would happen in the aisle where there are pots and pans, not bread. I would have beat the living sh** out of him and I'm a Great Grandma to a two year old.

I know my seniments exactly. I'm a grandmother of a 3 year old. In my case the man would never get a chance to grab my grandchild let alone slap her.

It's really shocked to hear about this news. I think this old man is not in his normal situation . He might be crazy at that time . Kids crying everywhere is quite normal and the people who have kids can easily understand . Their parents would be embarrassed when other people get angry with their crying kids . But it doesn't mean that you can slap the kids . Parents will be getting heartbreak when their kids hurt.
