I went into town on Tuesday to find Christmas cards and all the usual Christmas stuff on sale in more than a couple of the shops. Why???
let us have our summer please! I have just come back from a two week holiday in Turkey, I don't want to see Christmas stuff on sale yet, not for at least another 2 months.
The sun is still hot and we are still wearing summer clothes. We have very little summer in the UK as it is and we don't need Christmas rammed down our throats.
Makes me mad :/

I've seen the Christmas stuff coming out already too! It's crazy. Let us celebrate Halloween and get summer over with - then pull that crap out. Seriously - it's insane. And I swear it gets earlier and earlier every year! I don't know why they do it? I can't imagine it makes people start shopping for it earlier? I mean seriously, I don't want to be shopping for santas in my shorts. LOL ok so I guess that's what people in the warmer climates do, but it's not what I'm use to because I live in the north! lol

It really gives me the hump. Like you say let's get summer and Halloween out the way first. I have 8 birthdays to think about between now and Christmas. In fact it has the opposite effect on me. It makes me more determined to NOT buy any earlier. I don't want to start thinking about Christmas until mid November at least. Makes me sound a bit 'bah humbug' but it gets on my nerves all the same.
Today was really hot and sunny here, I went into town to buy a card for a 21st birthday to find all the birthday cards section shoved up one end of the store making way for Christmas cards,
Bah humbug :-)

I had watched news stories about early Christmas sales a few years ago. The store owners said the downturn in the economy has caused more people to begin saving for Christmas much earlier than usual. They said offering Christmas merchandise for sale earlier in the year attracts shoppers with less money to spend.
The early start to the Christmas shopping season does seem a bit ridiculous, especially when stores already have "Christmas In July" sales.

It's not even just Christmas merchandise really, it's clothes and shoes too. I was going to Turkey 7th August and I went into town to look for a couple of tops and bikini's, there was hardly anything there. All the autumn clothes were coming in, jumpers and boots!!!
My son works in Clarks Shoes at Bluewater and their summer sale started at the end of June!
