My friend's cat just passed away at the very ancient age of 23 years. I really hope my cats are healthy and last that long. Mine are all in their teens, real senior citizens. Have you had a cat that lasted into his 20s?

My oldest cat lived to be eighteen. I was devastated when she passed away, eight years ago almost. She had been sick for the last four or five years of her life, but with medication, enjoyed a pretty good quality of life. I still miss her to this day. She was a special soul. I had her cremated and I have her ashes. Yep, crazy cat lady here!

We had a cat when I was growing up that got quite old. I don't remember exactly how long but for an outdoor cat it was incredible. Probably the best mouser we ever had. When she was old she had no teeth anymore but didn't seem to have any problem eating.

I had a cat a cat for 17years and it can be devastating when they die when you have them for so long, they are like your own child, animals of any kind can become as important to people as family....

I've never had a senior cat until now - well, beyond 15-16, but the person we got Sassy from said she was 10, and that was 8 yrs ago... she's starting to lose weight, so I think we won't have her a LONG time more - but that's just starting, I hope she lives a few more years

I hate it when cats die. I had mine to the vet today. My cats were both 19 when they passed away, and I hope that the one that I have now will live to be that long. I had him to the vet today but fortunately the vet thinks hairballs are his only problem.
