I just installed a new color printer cartridge in my printer today. However, the printer is still saying that I need to install a color cartridge. I took the tape off of the cartridge. I also got series 9 with the pin #: MK991, which is what I need. I also inserted it as far down as it will go. What could I have done wrong? It says on the box the cartridge came in that it will work with a V305 Dell printer, which is what I have. I'm still getting this message on the printer, though.

Mine will do that and have to do a realignment of the cartridge.
Just make sure it 's completely in and keep trying.
If it doesn't work, take it back to where you bought it and see if they really did give you the right cartridge for your type of printer.
And, could be you are not holding your mouth right lOL

Hi quita88! I got the cartridge from Walmart so I picked it out myself. I don't know how many times I kept trying to reinstall it but I just kept having the same problems. I did the realignment of the cartridge, too. I got the right one for my printer. I exchanged it today and the newer one is working better. Evidently, the first one was a faulty cartridge. Kathy.

I guess you've heard that saying, "Just about everything in my house is a Walmart special!"Lol. That's pretty true of me! We have a Walmart supercenter here in Jasper and it's probably less than 5 minutes from where I live. It might be 5 minutes. I don't know for sure but it's not that far. I actually hate going there because it's always so crowded. I just go when I have to and when I feel like it. You can find just about anything and everything there, though. Most of their prices are not that high, either. That's where I got my monitor, as a matter of fact. Kathy.

I don't buy cartridges at Wal mart anymore. I take my old one to Staples and find a clerk who is supposed to know what they are doing.
I've not had any troubles since I started going to staples. Besides, check their prices, staples is usually cheaper.
Good you got it going tho !

My printer is working a lot better now. My computer has been infected with some viruses, too, and that was part of the problem. I recently got an antivirus program and that really has helped. The virus program is Regcare (I think that's the name of it). I bet it was aggravating to buy an ink cartridge and bring it home and find out there's no cartridge in it! Thank you for responding. Kathy.

Try removing all of the other cartridges and then turn off the power from the mains socket. Turn the power back on with the cartridges still out - wait until the machine starts up fully and tells you to enter cartridges, then turn it on and put ALL the cartridges back in and turn on the machine.
If the problem persists it is either a faulty new cartrdge, one of the other cartridges if it is a colour printer, or the print head that is either blocked of faulty.

I've done this several times tonight and I keep having the same problem. I have a feeling that I have a faulty new cartridge and I'm going to take it back tomorrow. I just got the black cartridge not too long ago and it didn't cause me any problems. How do I check to see if the print head is blocked or faulty? I only have two cartridges in this printer, btw.
I downloaded the link and I found out that I have over 600 viruses on this computer! I've been having problems getting my printer to communicate with my computer and I feel like all these viruses might be what's causing the problem. I have at&t security suite but it doesn't ever find any problems. I scan for viruses as well as spyware everyday, using at&t. It has found a few spyware and it always quarantines those. I'm purchasing the software from the link you provided and I'm hoping it will work with a Dell computer because that's what I have. I didn't see anything mentioned about a Dell Computer.
Thank you for your help and welcome to mylot. Kathy.

No, it still won't print at all, I'm sorry to say. I tried the suggestion that redzventure said for me to try several times tonight and it still won't print. Even though I have installed the color cartridge, it still keeps telling em to install the color cartridge. I think I might have a faulty cartridge and I'm going to take it back tomorrow.
I have been having trouble getting my printer to communicate with my computer here lately and I do have a lot of viruses on here. I'm purchasing the software from the link he gave me above and I'm hoping it will work. I contacted Dell (that's the kind of computer I have) about this and they wanted to charge me $69.00 to remove the viruses and I don't have that kind of money! Well, they said $69.00 was the minimum payment.
Welcome to mylot, btw. Kathy.
