I have seen Head Cheese in the deli dept at the grocery store I did ask what it was but I have forgotten what the deli clerk said, all I know is that I would never eat that stuff it looks awful it doesn't even look like cheese in fact I don't think it is cheese it looks more like a bunch of thrown together scrap meat.Does anyone know what Head Cheese is made of? For those of you who have tried it how does it taste in your opinion?

Hogs Head cheese used to be made from boiling a hogs head, hence the name. Now a days it is scraps of meat - like lunch meat - held together with gelatin. I don't know how its made everywhere but down in Louisiana where i am from they use poke pieces and it is held together by a gelatin that I think is made form pig hooves.
I don't eat the stuff either, I think it looks nasty.

Hi Sedel1027
Your right that sounds very nasty. Just knowing whats in it and hows its prepared makes me not ever want to try it actually the way it looks has the same effect just plain nasty. Thanks for responding I didn't realize it was made different ways around the country.
