Do you plan things in advance or do at the last moment?

I am a person who does things at the last moment, but I do it perfectly. I don't take the pain of planning things in advance and keep worry about whether it will come out well or not. I will be cool till the last moment, but somehow do the work perfectly at the last moment.
When my mom tells me to make a list of things to buy from super market; I will say 'yes I made the list'. When she asks me for the list written in a paper; I will say that the list is in my mind. I do that all the time. I am lazy even to plan such a small thing.
What about you?

Yes i do. I dont keep a note of what things i need to do next day. But its habitual for me to think of all those things i will do on a priority basis, the next day and try to follow the unwritten plan. I hate to rush up things at the last moment.

It is good to do things on priority basis. I also prioritize my tasks. I have friends who write down all the tasks which they want to do in a single day and they cut the task once they are done with it. It is good in a way that we won't miss out anything. But, I am lazy to search for a pen and paper for it.

Hello, for the most part I like to plan ahead.I don't like to be unprepared but sometimes I know it can't be helped. If I don't have paper to write things down I will use my cell phone to remember when I need to.Only thing I have done at the last moment was moved at the last moment, was not planned but had no choice.

It is good to plan ahead. My hsuband has the habit of keeping things saved on his draft whenever he thinks about it and later it forms a structred plan with process in paper. I do that high level planning only if I am doing an important job. Thanks for the response.

I like to plan things before executing.Earlier I used to have a diary to write down important appointments or events to attend without fail. With the cellphone,it is now easy to use the organizer to plan everything before hand.Daily in the morning,I look after the schedule and execute it in order.I think planning is important in everybody life.Cheers!

Whenever I have planned for a trip or something like that for one reason or the other it gets cancelled. So whenever I want to go out on a trip its just that sudden decision.Even while on trips I dont go according to the plan.I would have wanted to come back on a particular date but because of more interesting places I fall back.

I make a plan only when I am doing a very serious job and if I miss out something it will have a great impact on me. For example: I made a plan for my engagement and wedding and did all the tasks on time. I am also making a plan now because I am going to shift to another country permanently. So, I should make proper plan and complete all my taks on time.

I'm someone who really don't plan much & whatever happens, happens in the last moment. Luckily for me , everything turned out to be fine at the end rather than making a mess

I love to organize programs. I see to that the plan works out well till the end. I love to work as a group, planning events. But in personal life if i plan out things it never worked out and at the end i'll be completly disappointed. So, in the case of personal life i just leave it lose at wait for the last minute, and that will work out well.

What I learnt from experience is that when we plan things too much they simply don´t happen as planned at all. It´s hard for me still to do things at the last moment cause i was always used to plan but I try as I can. I try at least not to plan too much or to worry too much with things before they happen. But it´s quite difficult though.

I am a last moment type of person. Especially when it comes to projects, I can never do them in advance. When I sit down to plan something, it seems as if I can't come up with anything good. Like when I was still in high school, I would try to write a paper in advance, but I would end up just doing other stuff in the computer. But doing it the night before due (or before the last day of extra credit) and all the brain juice just seem to be percolating. Everything just comes out easily. It's also the same when I am making logos or designing stuff. I was made to do designs ahead, and all the stuff I came up with were crap. But then, I was suddenly given a final due date to redo it, and I came up with something else entirely, and everyone thought it was good. I don't know, I guess for me, it takes the element of desperation to get the brain juices flowing.

If you planned early then you will not face any panic in last moment. I used to travelled frequently. So I already kept a seperate bag for travelled. I also face the same if I don't arrange in advance. Planned in advance where you can save your time.

I am inclined to be opposite. :-) I plan everything - not to the minutest detail, of course, but plan regularly and at least the minimum level required. I think it saves a lot of time, and worry, apart from expenses.

I am the type of person who likes to make plans in advance however unfortunately for me it hasn't been that way in over a year now as I began a new relationship and that relationship came with a lot of additional baggage which definately hasn't been willing to allow for me to make too many advanced plans so I am learning how to manage last minute deals at just that.....the last minute. I'm getting really good at it now but it was very trying at first.

I'm a planner, so much so that I have trouble moving out of the planning stage. When I undertake a project, I do research, make lists, create outlines, etc. But, by the time I'm finally ready to proceed with the project, I lose interest.
I envy people who can manage to accomplish things without all the planning. I just find that the most interesting part.

Really depends on what I'm planning for. Grocery list? I list down grocery but most of the time I end up buying what's not on the list LOL though most of the items I need to buy. Planning for parties like birthdays, I don't plan if it's my birthday but if it's the birthday of others I plan ahead because I usually do the cooking and the marketing.
VAcations, I plan ahead but I like spur of the moment decision when going someplace with friends because I really get to go so are my friends. This I have tried and tested several times because most times when we were still on the planning stage most will back out and the worst would be backing out at the last minute.

Ha Ha. Thats a cool attitude. Really you need not plan. Too many times I would plan to achieve great things but in the end, I would have not even followed a 10% of what I had planned actually and the case is same for me anytime if I plan. I make great plans which no one can even think of I bet. But in reality, I would mess up with the whole things and end up in doing nothing or the thing which is just against what I had planned. Hence Its always better not to plan things as it is a total waste in spending our time planning for all the things. Thanks for posting this discussion and have a great day. Happy Mylotting. Cheers:-)

Hi Daliaj,
I am a forward planner to the point of obsession. I like to know at least the day before what I am going to be doing, and if someone randomly springs something on me then I won't do it. I hate surprises and being caught off guard because it means never know how to react and I am terrible at winging it. About the only times I do things spontaneously are if I am going to do crazy things to music, or stuff on-line. I never really plan either of those as I don't stick to the plans. Same with shopping, I like to take my time shopping and so I just put a day over to it, and then take the time in the supermarket. I don't use lists either, I am another person who keeps what I need in my head too lol
All the best,
Dranz

I always do things at the last moment, except going out traveling. I would like to make a plan before going out, like invite some good friends together, study route and expense and so on. Only good planning can play beautiful to come back. One of my friends enjoys to plan things in advance. For example, when she went home, she might pack the baggage and buy the tickets one week ago, and then inspected every day ,prevented forget something , and went to the station an hour ahead of schedule.I think her approach is very difficult to understand, and it is a wast of time.

Yes I do plan things in advance, but by the time goes I end up executing them at the last moment itself. But atleast that gives me some self-satisfaction that I have not done something in a rush or hurry and was well-planned. But sometimes I fail too and that might be no exception for others too.
Have a great day daliaj. Happy mylotting!

I do a bit of both. Certain things can happen at the last second and other times I need to plan something out. I never make a list when going grocery shopping. I always say that I should, then I end up walking aimlessly around the supermarket not sure what I need. Hopefully, one day I will have a list and cut down the time I spend in the grocery store.
